Suck it, Biffins!
well seeing we are saturated with fake mainstream news you are filling your head with thank God for the first amendment where you can go to an independent site and get the "other side" Of the story---oh wait, mainstream media lectured us already there is no both sides-just one side and one approved opinion.
Here is a local source saying the same thing from WRKO
Kuhner's Corner: The media lies about the Boston rally
But it's not my fault that my thread about the Patriots was hijacked by others about crap I don't care about. My original post was also about the Pats and how I wished the players just focused on football.
But anyway, I get your point and I appreciate the reply and I understand the reasoning behind it. As you said, if things escalate we can then have a discussion on the Pats forum and hopefully at that time it won't get hijacked by this political crap.
Oh I didn't realize it was your thread to begin with, apologies for saying 'suck it' in my reply.
Threads with any hint of political relevance will always get hijacked. It's the nature of the internet. People here can't contain themselves, they have to inject their political viewpoint into everything and hopefully get some good insults in on the other side. This is the case for both the left and the right (although this message board is mostly older people and therefore leans pretty far right).
I for one am happy when things get moderated that get too political. You can go anywhere else on the internet for politics, there's no need to turn the Patriots message board of all places into yet another place where people scream at each other and never listen.
How is it not related to Patriot football? I would argue it is more relevant to Patriot football and the upcoming season than half the boring topics regarding the off season or training camp matters. It is not a political discussion. It is a discussion very relevant to the state of the Patriots football team.
Please re-read my post, and then perform the math quiz.
Math Quiz is idiotic. The entire thread is 100% Patriots football related. This thread should have remained in the football forum. (cowardly to move it)
political aspect of this directly speaks to the division this kind of thing can cause to the football team. This discussion is a New England Patriots football discussion. This thread should have remained where it was.
Wow, internet muscles now.
I would opine that the person who refuses to perform the political vs football math is the coward, because they fear the answer will be worse than imagined.
The notion that "the entire thread is 100% Patriots football related" is absurd and a complete falsehood.
This is exactly the point people are trying to make--we want to forget politics when we put football on tv, not watch McCourty and Castro Kap's political crap and demonstrations. It does distract as evidenced by what happened on this thread. Disrespect our country and people are going to react.
speaking up is American. sitting for the anthem is unbelievably disrespectful to the men and women of the military and the country.
It's not unless they are protesting against them which they're not.
You guys are such snowflakes, Devin McCourty is just a straight shooter who wont be Politically Correct like some people want.
I just want to add that I honestly do respect your opinion. I know where you are coming from. I just disagree.
To be fair these actions of kneeling has caused us to reexamine the definition of patriotism. And to be honest I was against it initially.
You know what...that's a good point (except for your last sentence), and worthy of a smart conversation, if that's possible.
But I would argue that there's a big difference between an Internet forum that's ostensibly devoted to a sports team, and sports themselves.
If you're a star athlete, then you have platform to express your beliefs. There's a long history of American athletes doing that, from Owens to Ali. In the end, your success on the field doesn't really affect people's lives, but if you can harness that to make a difference, then being a recognized athlete gives you that opportunity.
For example, look at Tom Brady, his impact off the field with his Best Buddies and other charities was enabled by, and is way more important than, his success on the field. So if McCourty thinks that he is making a difference with a protest, then he's just following in a tradition that's gone on for more than a century. The debate then becomes (more interestingly) about whether he's actually making a difference, but not whether he *should* do it or shouldn't.
Let's contrast that to some random politics ******* (liberal or conservative) on an internet message board. You are not raising awareness when you interrupt a good Patriots discussion. You aren't using your internet 'fame' (that reaches the ~100 regular posters on this board) to make a difference in society. You aren't elevating yourself above your status as an internet commenter to something that will positively affect people's lives.
No, you are just holding us all hostage to your incoherent, uninformed rantings as we try to wade through different threads to figure out what people's opinions on our defensive line depth chart is. Get your stupid politics thoughts out of the Patriots message board (again, regardless of whether you're liberal or conservative...NO ONE CARES). Go post in the Yahoo comments section if you really have something to say.
I can't believe I typed all that out.
Ironic that you would tout "Freedom of speech" and disagree with sitting during the National Anthem which is, of course, freedom of speech.
i wish i could say i knew where you are coming from but i dont. and i dont have any respect for anybody who sits during the anthem.
