I always thought baseball was the hardest, but their standards have declined as well. All are becoming the Hall of the Very Good, or Nearly So.

Baseball is tougher. No other sport would bar players the caliber of Clemens, Bonds, Shoeless Joe or Pete Rose. The NFL isn't going to have a year where only two guys get inducted like the NBA has.

But they are fundamentally different sports. I think in the NBA it's easier because if you are a star you get in. But it's a 5 person game and a star can have a tremendous impact. While in a 53 person game you can't let every big name in a particular era get in. Meanwhile baseball kinda has hard barometers on stats and accolades you need to hit for some voters to even consider you. It's a lot colder in that respect.

The Hall of Fame became an utter comedy show when Tony Dungy got in. Guy is the most dishonorable, phony, lying dirt bag and wasn’t even a very good coach. Brown nosing and politics can get you a long way. Just look at what it did for Saint Tony.

He set the bar so low that of course Cowher and Johnson belong in comparison to that clown.

Yep.

I think Bledsoe has a better shot now than he might have had a few years ago if this is the new standard.

I don’t care about stats, Bledsoe was a mediocre QB who should never make the HOF.

I put Bledsoe in a class with Philip Rivers, and Matt Ryan.

These guys never really won anything.
Bledsoe has a ring because of Brady.

The late 90s Broncos and then Rams are as close as teams can get to a dynasty in the salary cap era. This was the way it was going and then the Patriots put everything on hold for twenty years. Get ready for a lot of three year "dynasties" with 1-2 Lombardis and then back to mediocrity. That's how the league was supposed to work.

Were the 1990-94 Buffalo Bills a dynasty?

If you argue Buffalo wasn’t....then can you legitimately classify this great Patriots era as a “20 year dynasty” since NE didn’t reign supreme for a decade which was sandwiched between #1-3 and #4-6 and in fact accomplished less during that 10 year span than the 4 time bridesmaid Bills did during their non-dynasty?

This is 100% my take. If you have to "build a case" for a player to be admitted, he doesn't belong.

The Bills maybe were a short-lived regular-season dynasty. I think the easiest definition of New England's dynasty is dominating the AFCE, winning it 17 of the last 19 seasons.

I got no problem with Davis being in. Especially if Gale Sayers is a first ballot who only played 5 seasons with no rings and lesser stats. No doubt if the medical technology was there back in Sayers day, things would be much different.

Davis ran for 2000 which only a handful have done and he was the center piece of 2 Superbowl wins?

OFC 19 years of continuously being thought of as a genuine threat to win it all is also right up there but that won't stand the test of time like dominating the division will simply because to future generations those results will be etched in stone. Just as twenty years from now future fans won't be party to the current BS weak division arguments most also will tend to forget the contenders and simply remember the winners. Yet in the here and now the knowledge that going into any season for close to 20 years now you couldn't have a 'contenders vs pretenders' discussion with the Pats being included in the former is truly impressive.

Conversely, as fun as the Bills could be to watch back then the expectation that an AFC team would win it all was quite low. IIRC SB XXV was the only one in which anyone thought they had a chance and that was going into the game not the season. Going into the season back then it was virtually a given whoever won the NFC would win the SB.

No the early 90s Bills are not a dynasty as they won no titles during that time. They were also a wild card team one of those years.

They were never the best team in the league. They had no shot to win 3 of those games and even the first SB year IIRC they had trouble against good teams. They never really had a defense good enough to win a championship and had no rival in the AFC that could push them unlike the stacked NFC.

The Patriots have had a 20 year run of excellence bookended by two dynasties. They’ve been the best team in the league lots of times during this run.

Warner's numbers hold up.

Three super bowl appearances and his offense had an NFL-historic nickname. If the HOF is a football museum to honor its biggest players and performances and moments, Warner seems to fit the bill IMO.

My two cents:

• Keep doing what they are doing.
• At some point create a "Circle of Honor/Best of" the Hall of Fame. Reserve those spots for people that make the Hall of Fame and eventually get bumped up after a second committee evaluates each player.
• Maybe even have levels of "Honor". Basically the process already started with the "100 Best players".
• It would be a great way for the Hall of Fame to create a media event, every so often, $$$.

The idea of 'dynasty' doesn't come with objective metrics and a firm definition. There was a lot of winning in those ten years the Pats didn't win anything. It's about the story I think.

Going to the super bowl four years in a row is quite an accomplishment, and not closing the deal on any of them has got to be pretty damn frustrating.
