    Sorry...way late to this thread...Just killing time during the Super Bowl bye week...lol .... in reading through this thread. But, I’ve done a ton of reading about D-Day and World War II. I could be wrong, but I’m not aware of any troop transport that was torpedo'd by the Germans on D-Day in the English channel. I could be wrong. However, do you know about the disaster that was Slapton Sands? That may well have been what your father was (unfortunately) talking about, but again, I could be wrong. Google it if you don’t know about it. A total disaster for the allies . Anyway, big respect for your dad!
    My father was just a bit too young to actually serve. My grandfather was in the first wave on Omaha beach and won a silver star that day.
