I said last night that, because these tests are pretty global and would be produced from a process that's pretty much MTS, that it would take these companies anywhere from a day to a week to really ramp up mass production. They'll become more and more available with each passing day. Testing will be no problem shortly, although there will still be "multiple sources" and "one official with knowledge of the situation" who will say otherwise I'm sure.

Again, same scenario. Would the person have died had they not gotten the coronavirus? If the answer is no, then it would make some sense.

I think we can all agree that some of the people with those conditions have died even without COVID. Figuring out the difference is nary impossible.

You're right, not if they're not testing the deceased, which I have read has been the case due to the apparent potential dangers involved and that does muddy the waters.

My friends dad is in hospice due to covid19. He had underlying conditions but was fine prior. So, there ya go. He was going to die at some point in the future due to those conditions, so why blame the Corona?

Is that the argument being made?

I'm not taking any one source as gospel, but the plethora of information suggests that everything is not as it seems surrounding this disease. There's always a nugget of truth in everything whether or not the whole is true or ********.

I understand your point, the data is incomplete. Corners had to be cut in deathcare. From what I understand they are running biopsies where allowed by the situation.

When forklifts and refrigerated trailers serve as a morgue, care capacity is clearly overwhelmed. This isn’t a lack of desire to report properly, this is a lack of care capacity. There simply isn’t enough to be done at every step with what resources are available. It’s a simplified reporting method to free up MD time on the backend of things so they can focus on live patients.

One MA drive up has the general public getting tested finally. If you have the symptoms and call CVS and they set up a time for you to go.

It's not for everyone but those with the flu and aches have been getting appointments. Needs to happen in more places.

My wife was able to make an appt at a new drive through testing site in Palm Beach County for tomorrow. Phone screening consisted of a bunch of questions concerning travel, contact with known positive people, etc. by an administrative lady and then symptoms by a nurse. The only reason she got an appointment was her constant coughing and the fact she works in healthcare (working w/ hospice patients at their homes).

I'm wondering if it would be better to test (+) and be done with it (her symptoms aren't severe, no fever, no difficulty breathing) or to be (-) and continue to worry about catching it later. I hope this doesn't come across as insensitive.

I think Adam's reply does sort of answer some of what you're inferring here. Not that I want to go there, but for a president who has been vocal about trying to keep the numbers down, I don't feel like exaggerating them intentionally is what they're aiming for either.
