That's kinda my thought. This thing is here until there's a vaccine. So the question then becomes... What do we do about life as normal? Sporting events, concerts, restaurants. I can see sitting in a restaurant ok, but I am not so sure about hanging out at a game or a concert anytime soon.

Just to clarify, that “funny” was directed at the “random quarterback” line ;)

    Not overwhelm the hospitals?

It'll take some sort of rolling open/shutdown process to achieve that imo. With travel restrictions.

Open a couple states for a few weeks, then shutdown and send resources there to handle the inevitable hospital rush. Pause, and then open another batch of states. Repeat.

Remember this started with just a couple cases in a couple areas. Imagine what would happen now if every area was opened considering the virus exists already in every community.

So what do we do? I am not trying to be a smart ass. Do we stay sequestered until the vaccine is available?

IMO, we are a long way away from being thru it. I see this is just beginning.

Well we need a plan to reopen and considering a may start date should be on the table as an option, but there is a lot of information to collect and a long time to collect it.

We need people to be looking at the data and figure it out

Pretty much. Or at least until an effective treatment is found.

But try to be smart about it. Push even more businesses to switch to remote work. Allow those with the antibodies to go out to work/volunteer.

Yeah, I've sadly accepted a year plus of this.

I work for an auto dealer, so I am with the public every day. My position (fleet/comm sales) allows me to work from home a little, but I need to be here to sell. I also have a photography business that is not doing anything currently. I am out in it, is my point. My wife works making sure the area children are fed. She's in it. It is what it is. We just keep going.

Again, it’s not Trump’s policies that bother me. I think he has a lot of common sense on many things.

Will the county need to ultimately stop with restrictions before there is a vaccine, for the sake of everyone? I’m guessing it will.

Is this too soon? Seems that way.

    Is it outrageous?

That’s where things inextricably tie into Trump as a leader.

If this were someone who I trust, who wasn’t being a buffoon, who wasn’t saying stupid things, was a good communicator who was consistent and could unite people, then I’d say definitely not outrageous, just a little aggressive.

But, alas, I don’t have any confidence in the administration, so it becomes somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I don’t believe in them, I expect this to be a disaster, and as a citizen, I’ll probably not buy into whatever they’re saying.

I’ve just seen too much ******** from that administration. Hiring and firing. Finger pointing. Claiming there’s a plan when there isn’t. Claiming to be experts when they’re not.

Nothing makes me believe a plan will be solid. I want to believe but can’t. Nothing makes me believe there are good intentions here. I want to believe but can’t.

That’s what happens when a leader destroys his credibility.

It is what it is, I guess.

That will change once we get weekly testing.

the key will be to identify virus carriers and isolate them. We don’t want asymptotic people thinking “Hey, I feel fine so I’m working”. No, you’re not going to work if you’re around people.

Companies will need to tell infected employees, “you’re out for a couple of weeks so don’t even think about showing up”. We may even have to snitch on people, but I’m all for that.

Testing is the key to getting back to work.
