Any thoughts on the MLB's plan to possibly start the season soon?
1. All games played in Arizona
2. No dugout. Players sit spread apart in the stands.
3. Umpires stay back further.
4. Use cameras/computers to determine strikes/balls. (This is a great plan regardless.)
5. No fans.
I understand baseball doesn't compare to football, but I'd be psyched to watch Curling now.
Other than the catcher being close to the batter, and perhaps 1st baseman to runner... seems like baseball could actually be a great sport to succeed with social distancing.
Sadly there's no way that could work with football.
I didn't record my phone conversation with the pharmacist and post it, so no link.
can anyone with a legitimate/sincere conservative perspective agree with what the administration is doing with supplies? under true conservative mantra what they're doing is really wrong
Hospitals say feds are seizing masks and other coronavirus supplies without a word
If they have a pre-existing condition (like a bruise, ingrown toenail, or bad haircut), can't count those as covid patients.
Singapore re-locking down
now now.......if you don't minimize it, it's only because you want people to die
So we are about to reopen while we're still going to have 100K+ cases and many deaths a day?
Cant't wait for that 2nd wave come June and July and being locked in again.
Hopefully people won't listen to this if it's true and listen to what will happen with the virus if we open that soon...aka come back
Nice "sports as it relates to winning against corona" article:
never said I was, but you set the bar so low, it is unavoidable
If this happens, and the next inevitable spread/shutdown occurs, I may break my TV if I see donny say, "No one could have seen this coming."
As far back as late November, U.S. intelligence officials were warning that a contagion was sweeping through China’s Wuhan region, changing the patterns of life and business and posing a threat to the population, according to four sources briefed on the secret reporting.
Concerns about what is now known to be the novel coronavirus pandemic were detailed in a November intelligence report by the military's National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), according to two officials familiar with the document’s contents.
The report was the result of analysis of wire and computer intercepts, coupled with satellite images. It raised alarms because an out-of-control disease would pose a serious threat to U.S. forces in Asia -- forces that depend on the NCMI’s work. And it paints a picture of an American government that could have ramped up mitigation and containment efforts far earlier to prepare for a crisis poised to come home.
"Analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event," one of the sources said of the NCMI’s report. "It was then briefed multiple times to" the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s Joint Staff and the White House.

Just turn your tv off.
I've applied, and paid a lot of attention to it. The metric will be payroll reports and numbers. Whatever % of your payroll at the start date you have at the end date, is turned from loan to grant. If you keep on 99% of your payroll, you keep 99% of the money as a grant, and pay back 1% of the money at 1% annualized rate.
It is really important to keep the derivation of this program in mind. It started with Congress needing a way to put billions into the economy, in whatever way they could think of. "Small business" is a popular meme that works across the aisle. So they decided to use it as one of the primary drivers of flooding the economy with new money. They then picked 500 employees and $100K as arbitrary cut offs, and 25% of payroll as an arbitrary business expense number. All this was done in a few days of program design and negotiating
What's important is that this has nothing to do with a business' revenue during that period. The SBA doesn't care if you kept all your sales, or lost all your sales, or doubled all your sales, during that time period. They only care if you kept your staff off of unemployment.
This has nothing to do with fairness. It isn't that kind of program. It is a blunt object, not a scalpel. It is intended to keep us from going in to a depression that takes 50 years to recover from. Remember, the 2008 recession took 18 years to fully recover from. That's what is hanging over them.
In short, they want businesses to qualify for this, under any circumstances, as long as the maintain payroll.
You are a wise man.
People don't seem to get this... but this virus is not going away.
We can stay inside forever... and it's still gonna be out there.
The whole point of quarantine was to flatten the curve... i.e. not overload the hospitals.
The point was NOT to eliminate the virus. That's not possible.
But we can still live our lives while keeping a distance and wearing masks.
As a random quarterback from another team said recently, the only way out... is through.
They're laying the (fake) bricks towards it. NBC is reporting CDC is planning to loosen the guidelines to say it's OK for people who have been in close contact with infected people to go back to work.
So the point is, if you've been in close contact with an infected person, you probably had it already and showed no symptoms, so we'll assume you are both not going to get it and not going to spread it? This is instead of an anti-body test?
