Wait - some of you are actually angry that a tiger got tested?

My dudes...if it is making the jump from us to another species don't you think that's important to test? Don't you think that's important to understand before it possibly, idk, starts jumping into herds of cattle?

Maybe corporate America can provide those concentration camps isolation areas for the infected that you suggested earlier.

No, I think he meant, “I know without a doubt that I speak for everyone here because no one but a complete idiot would disagree, that God won’t help.”

Angry, really? Animal doctors aren't using the tests that would otherwise be used on humans, so I'm not sure why anyone would have a valid reason to be upset.

This is not possible. Either one side is right or the other is.

Either it is an overblown flu or it is a pandemic poised to kill thousands or millions of people around the world if we don't implement controls.

Don't worry if you don't want to pick a side - the virus doesn't care. Covid19 is an enlightened centrist that will happily kill both sides.

My father spent 4 years in a tuberculosis sanitorium. It saved his life & prevented others from getting sick

And I didn’t propose anything other than whatever is best for humanity & sanity. Maybe you’re referring to the WHO doctor

Drop the sarcasm and have a real honest discussion bud. There isn’t much to be angry over.

Although Italy's deaths remained high their new cases were trending downwards. Daily deaths lag new cases by about ten days.

There were posts a few pages back mocking that a tiger got tested. It's actually super important to test and understand species jumps for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is what happens if this thing hits our livestock.

Everything is so new that no one really knows for sure. I read an interesting study that stated anywhere from 5% to 80% of people getting Covid-19 are asymptomatic. That range is so wide as to be meaningless, except in that it tells us that we really just don't know.

A serious discussion about mandatory testing for every citizen in the US each week, whereby the government "pays for it" and it's "free" for everyone else? And isolation units for those who test positive in their weekly mandatory test?

You understand why having a serious discussion is a contradiction, right?

And whenever someone shoots down a silly idea, you just respond that it's a universal truth or it's inevitably going to happen.

Because, you know, sPiRiTuAlItY tells you.

Then you falsely claim that people who disagree with you are AnGrY.

Because you can sense that from behind your monitor.

The President's job is to lead, and part of that in a crisis like a pandemic is to organize a whole of government response. You are correct that the federal government can only suggest a quarantine. So, then, you would agree that nothing is stopping POTUS from phoning each of the holdout governors and personally imploring them to adhere to the task force's recommendations. And, similarly, you would agree that there's nothing stopping the President from publicly announcing, during one of his daily briefings, what he'd done. This course of action would make the President look responsible, something he desperately needs, and would generate massive public and media pressure on the holdouts.

While you may want to place all the blame on feckless governors, I simply don't agree that there's not more the President could be doing in this situation.

And also ask him why people die?

Logic is sometimes a foolish thing

I’m perfectly fine with people put in danger, I’m fine with the fact people die everyday too. What choice do I have?

I’m fine with people recovering dramatically and babies being born everyday

People that try to figure these things out baffles me. We don’t have a right to understand in my opinion

life would suck if we never died. But sure, I’ll take an extra 50 years!

Don't want to branch this discussion into another thread by starting a poll.

So let's see if this works.

    Poll
If things reopen May 1st or at least by mid-May, the spread of Covid will...

    A) not increase at all.
    B) increase, but stay manageable.
    C) increase quickly resulting in another shutdown in a month or so.
    D) spread at a rate not even considered in worst case projections.

    * Figuring no effective treatments are found.
