Chelmsford-based ventilator company ramping up production to battle coronavirus

I heard about this while driving into the office this morning. There are 175 parts in this small portable ventilator. I've worked with a lot of the people assembling these in Chelmsford and wish them great success. But it will take weeks and months to get to that volume, so listen to people like Fauci and restrict interactions to those that are necessary.

I've also seen emails going around where some service engineers are getting trained on servicing our company's ventilators. Servicing broken ventilators can be much quicker and use service designated parts for existing ventilators. Getting a larger team can decrease that turn around time and get these broken ventilators back in the game.

Imo, the most useless and uninformative posts in this thread (and the last) are people complaining Trump didn't act soon enough. We get it!

No seriously, we understand you don't think the President handled this well at the outset.

Yep, still get it, you don't think Trump did enough back in January/February.

Didn't have enough tests at the beginning?Roger, already got it, see above.

NY/NJ have totally skewed the model. It they had acted sooner the model would be much, much lower.

Clearly you have no curiosity about policies that impacted the difficulty in dealing with the problem.

So basically, we're modelling politics as a viral outbreak. What we'd like to do is isolate ourselves, but recognizing that people will have to touch base now and then, because certain figures are part of the actual response, we're allowing for some exposure analogous to, say, having food delivered and left outside the door.

Just as importantly, every time we think we've been exposed we should wash out hands of it and move on.

We are trying to flatten the curve which in this case means not saturating the place with enough political tribalism to overwhelm local resources, i.e., Ian.

    But they're all this mask

That’s because of the FDA’s stalling back in early March. US companies wanted to schedule mass production on testing kits and the FDA originally sat on their hands. That was not a problem in Germany. This makes it so we can’t test mild symptoms (for fear of a shortage) where Germany can. They didn’t have a regulatory body that could stop that Berlin-based MNC from mass production. We did. That we aren’t testing mild symptoms is a valid complaint, though. That’s more acceptable than touting South Korea’s 1.6% case mortality rate over the US’s 1.8%.

Well, it depends whether you call Viagra a "miracle cure".

Scientists at the pharmaceutical company Pfizer discovered the powers of Viagra (sildenafil citrate) by accident in the early Nineties during trials of a potential new angina drug named UK-92480. ... UK-92480 was found to do little to relieve pain, and Pfizer was on the verge of abandoning the drug when reports began to show a distinctive pattern; many male trial volunteers were experiencing an unusual side-effect . . . erections.

Hahaha, then I suggest you sit down with an ounce until it’s gone.

But I’d like to ask you why you replied to a serious post that’s intended to be helpful with your response?

If you could answer that seriously, I’d appreciate it.

The most effective chart to plot is a log chart with existing cases on one axis and new cases on the other.....with respect to time cannot be predictive because you don’t know where you are on the curve until it hits you in the face

An ounce? Jesus, you were a beast! I'm more of an 8 ball guy.

I'm just messing around man. There's too much tension, trying to keep it lite.

Which is why I also posted....

Very shortly, we’ll see actual global statistics on the number of patients treated with these drugs along with the results

I think it’s important the results are shared with the general public. I know we’re all hoping results are great

That was a serious post? If that was the case, I should have died 30 years ago.....I guess it’s true that if it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger .... cuz I’m feeling pretty strong

but then again, mescaline and shrooms were always more effective at setting the mood....coke was good if you wanted to drink a million beers
