We need more property owners like you out there
The Federal Reserve has already said they will do whatever they have to shore up the credit market. There was talk of them adding $4T. The banks not collecting interest payments is not going to kill them when they have enormous cash reserves.
On the flip side, what do you think happens when people start getting evicted for not paying their rent? I'm not talking about mom and pop operations like yours, but REITs.
I think you'd be surprised at how many millions of acts of kindness and decency are happening even as we are posting here. Alas, good news is no news.
No, I'm saying I don't trust the NY Times because they do not perform actual journalism, and only cite themselves and twitter. Twitter is not real life and should not be considered a credible source in anyway. MSM platforms have become a game of telephone of only sourcing each other and creating a bootstrap paradox of misinformation due to the lack of actual journalism.
Many states already have 'No Eviction' and 'Forclosue Abatement' declarations out and I would bet serious money most will follow.
Disagree after Disagree after Disagree is a wonderful debate strategy especially when there's
no other input. I appreciate your thoughful contribution to the discussion
You and your wife are human beings, not a mortgage or property management company. The companies will come to collect their money eventually...they arent't going to just say "no big deal!". I've received numerous emails from my bill collectors telling me I dont have to pay right away due to the pandemic, but I will still have to pay eventually.
Just an FYI, the "powers that be" don't pick a side and just don't feel like this devolving any further.
so when the banking system collapses? who will stop that?
There is reason to be optimistic:

Banks will survive a lot longer than those who have to make a choice between food and rent.
Ian, thanks for what you do as our local “power that be”. I must confess I’ve only visited this thread a couple of times, because it devolved so far it’s a waste of time as far as I’m concerned. But I admire your willingness to wade into the cesspool to keep things from getting too toxic. Thanks for keeping the board alive during these difficult times.
That’s not the sense I get. I think the 2 camps here are those that say to use immediately based off of some small study numbers and those that say the small studies show promise but should lead to further studies. There are some variations within these groups but I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone say they hope this fails based off of political leaning. Maybe there’s an outlier here that wishes that but I don’t recall anything like that being said.
Insurance Departments across the country have posted allowances or outright moratoriums on non-pay cancellations or non renewal for any reason. There are some states of course that are just on vacation.
That's great. I'll wait for verdict by the medical / scientific community before I start celebrating. Once they conclude it works and it's used successfully as a treatment then we can all relax. Until then, I'll worry about other stuff that I actually have control over.
Ok we'll go with youre take. He made them do it
it didn't take long during the mortgage crisis......I hear what you are saying, but when the banks actually start failing, with a pandemic on top of that, but sorry.......our federal government gave all all their chances for some decent revenue to help this situation to the corporations on 1/1/2018.......many people are still getting paid and they can pay their mortgages, so they just get to bank it instead?
that's how every single other executive branch decision has been made since january of 2017
No, they were removed because it was outside the lines of what I asked for. I'm not a "leftist" and it's not what it was about. I'm just looking to keep things relatively civil.
Yes, they will put it in the bank anyway.
