I liked Danny Ainge over Larry so.....
I've noticed that I agree with 99% of your takes on all 4 sports teams.
But WHOA, bro.
If you're serious, this is mind- boggling.
On 2nd thought, you said " liked"" not " he was better". I think it's pretty common among fans to like certain players above some superstars. e.g. JE11 is my alltime favorite Patriot, a great player, but not in the same class as Brady.
At least I hope that's what you meant

I struggle thinking of RWIII as anything but disappointing.

IMO Brown has done or is in a position to lose ground as a popular player.
Thats an uninformed opinion. The Celtics are a better team with RW on the floor.
He may be the best defensive player in tge NBA. If he had played a full season year before last he would've won Def.Player of the Year, not Marcus.
He's had injuries and surgeries. This coming season will be the 1st time he's been able to focus his offseason on improving his game and conditioning instead of rehabbing from an injury/surgery. He's been working on his offensive game and we will see improvement. He is one of the most valuable players on the team. Anyone who really knows the game knows this

Exactly. There are just those players a fan is drawn towards. Mine was Danny Ainge. I played HS hoops, AAU and a little college (12th man walk on if you want to call that playing) and my game was exactly like Danny's...and I was a pain in the ass.

Larry Legend is a god. Period.

All things equal, if you asked me to pick 5 players in their prime mine would be...

Magic
Air
Larry
Russ
KAJ

Larry from '84-'88 was better than LeBron's prime. No question. I'd take LeBron's career.....but Larry's prime.

Yea he has been a little. Just can't stay healthy. Loved him in 2022 before he got hurt.

Yea I just cant warm up to him or Tatum. I think the only way i'll ever become endeared is if they win a title and stop focusing on their f-ing points and making all-NBA teams....Win #18.

I was kinda like that with Truth but once Ray and KG got here he made sacrifices for the team and that won me over...plus they won #17

You sound like his brother. He is all the things you said but he is always injured because he doesn't take care of his body, he is improving now in his look later year's. I have a problem with a player that the doctors say is ready to play and the player says he is not mentally ready to play as RW did. Sorry. I think I know enough about the game.

I agree with you regarding Tatum and Brown. It is hard for me to get excited about any professional that quits as they did on the Heat playoff series, they are paid big bucks to play not quit. As for RW, I can't stand a player that says he is not ready to play mentally after the doctor say it is OK to play. RW hasn't taken care if his body in the off season they say he did this year we shall see. Have a nice day, go Pats

A fellow hooper. I also played a lot, for a long time. Was in competitive leagues into my early 50's. Point guard.
I'll never forget playing in a rec league in San Diego in early 80's.
Not your typical rec league. Lot of ex- nba players as well as San Diego Clippers who were coming back from injury.
My team had the notorious Marvin "Bad News" Barnes, who was trying to get back in the nba after being released for yet another drug issue. We also had Cornell Warner, who had been an NBA all - star power forward. He was retired, maybe 5 years out, no desire to unretire but wanted a little competition.
Despite those guys, we finished last, lol.
A lot of teams had Division 1 college players. Marvin was a trip. I could tell you stories. Despite his past, he was a genuinely good dude. Very generous and inclusive. Trouble just always seemed to find him.

There is some validity to the issues you raised. No denying that.
But he is actively working on those.
And the fact remains, the Cs are better with him tham w/o him.
So I wouldn't be writing him off just yet.

PG as well. I've slowed down considerably. I stopped playing in leagues right before I hit 50. Playing vs 20 and 30 year olds was just too much.

You played vs some great talent. Iron sharpens iron.

Quit? They came back from a 3-0 series deficit to force game 7. That’s the opposite if quitting. Tatum hurt his ankle in game 7 but still played through the injury.

I don’t question Brown’s effort level. He simply isn’t a star player who can carry a team, and this ludicrous contract makes him a giant cap liability.

Tatum quit in game 6 of the Heat series. Then game 7 he hurt his ankle but he could make a shot when he wanted to.

Yeah you'll never see that kind of talent in any rec leagues today. But back then, options for nba players getting back into game shape in-season were pretty limited. So a lot of rec leagues in major cities had strong talent and nba teams used them as well as the CBA.
It was pretty cool for me just a 5'10" gym rat getting to play with these dudes. It was never for long they'd usually only play a couple games.

I like this trade idea. The sooner that Brogdon is gone the better the team will be. They want a trade for him, they have since the last game of the Heat series

Just because a guy isn’t hitting his shots or is passing when doubled doesn’t mean he’s quitting. I just don’t see it. There are guys across the league who actually quit during games and it’s pretty obvious as they aren’t playing defense or trying to create anything.

I've played vs D1 kids but never NBAers. Like going up against a pro golfer. The are not of this earth.

Didn't you hear the announcers and every other NBA spokes person say that the Celtics quit in game 6? That includes TATUM.

Every time I read something lately about the Celtics it is speaking about how injury-prone the Celtic's players are: Brogdon, RW III, and Prozingis along with how old Horford is, and how his time of play must be managed. That's a lot of players to backfill.

I admit. I'm concerned with the durability of those players.

With that said can't have ironmen all over the roster.
