Well that’s that. He’s almost not tradeable to 80% of the league now.

I like the player, the hustle etc, he’s done some good things here, but has never put the team over the hump even when given other talent around him. Maybe with Brogdon it finally works out?

In a pipe dream was hoping to package him and others for De’Aaron Fox.

I think Pritch will be the 3rd guard. Prob get 15 min a night.
We shall see I think it depends on Mazzulla and Pritchard doesn't seem to be his favorite on the bench. I believe if he is given some floor time he can produce some offense I don't think he is point guard material. Stay cool.

Interesting for me. During Brown's talk he spoke about the need for defense, defense from Porzingis and Tatum and the defensive loss losing Smart. Does this run contrary to Mazzulla? I think Mazzulla is a 3pt first offensive guy. Maybe I have miss read him?

I'd like to think he was the odd man out. I like Pritch. He gives them a reliable outside shot and another ballhandler. We'll see

Mazzulla said late Thursday PM that He hope the Celtics maintained the same level of defense as last season. I did not think they did a good job with the defense after the All Star break through the playoffs but I could be wrong. Mazzulla did say that this season he expected to see an expanded role for Pritchard, so I hope he keeps his word and you are correct. Stay out of the heat.

No question their D last year wasn't as good as 2021.

Mazz is not as defensive - minded as Udoka. Looks like he's transitioning the D to more of a zone as opposed to man to man switching emphasis Ime implemented. Might make sense as the team has more height. We'll see how it goes.

I'm higher on Pritchard's potential than most others. He's shown me more than Davison, that's for sure. When Brogdon eventually gets hurt, I think Pritchard becomes the first guard off the bench. We saw at the end of the regular season last year that if you stick 10 players on the floor in a game that has no playoff implications, that he can drop 30 and be the best player on the floor.

I still think the C's have long term plans for him. He's going to be a good role player on a playoff team IMO.

I understand that Smart was approaching 30 and played hard on the body. So trading him may have been timely. I accept that Grant Williams was a victim of the Smart trade and MONEY.

This game IMO is about the balance of Offense and Defense. Within the Offense, again my opinion, they have to balance the FTs, Lay Ups, Inside the Circle, dunks, Rebounds, and 3 pts Shots.

With Mazzulla Offense First 3 pt strategy and turning Derrick. White into a Point Guard that runs the team and with the age of Horford, the Injury Prone TimeLord, Porzingis & Brodgon are both injured Prone not to the degree of the Time Lord.
Pritchard sitting in waiting with a promise.

I have trouble believing that the Celtics improved the team with their moves so far to bring #18 to Boston.

I certainly hope I am proven Wrong.

just wait until next year when Tatum is eligible for a supermax. They wont be able to sign anyone worth a damn after that. They need to win next year

Boxer, you just took out the hammer and hit the nail on the head. That's why I posted somewhere, at almost 88 yrs old, I forget things, that Brown's contract is only for 2 years. If they don't win the championship in the next two seasons then Brown will be traded.

In three years Brown and Tatum's max deals will be "run of the mill". The Pats signed M Judon to a max deal two years ago and Judon already thinks in Y3 that he is underpaid. You are over reacting.

16-17M was not a max deal. TJ Watt was making 28M when the Patriots signed Judon. He was just outside top 10 edge rusher contracts.

Tatum's to be contract and Brown's contract values. That is the new level with the new agreement with the players. It is a lot of money but it is also "normal" going forward. The Celtics will be able to sign guys beyond Tatum and Brown because that is the salary structure the owners agreed to. Tatum and Brown's salaries are normal and usual going forward. Seems like a lot of money to me, but that is what the new agreement says.

Thank you I understand your point but the Celtics are not the norm they soon will have two Supper Max guys. In the third season, unless they bring the 18th banner to Boston in the next two years, Brown will be traded to get a player that will help them win. Thanks for talking with me.

In the next few years every team will have two Super Max players or Super Max players in waiting. It is no different than before. It takes three main studs to win a NBA title.

Brown and Tatum get better every year. Porz is a good shooter, look at his free throw completions of 85%. Porz is also a good Pick and Roll defender. Porz will pull a big out of the paint which will help Brown and Tatum a lot. Also Tatum will lead and score more in the next few years leaving Brown in a more complimentary role where he does well.

I think we have Brown, Tatum and Porz for three years. In three years the salary limit will be higher and the Celts will resign Porz or another. I doubt Brown or Tatum are going anywhere.

No they won't. The new CBA is designed to make it one superstar per team. Going with two severely limits remaining roster. The league wants parity. The Celtics are the guinea pig.

Agree. If Porzingski can stay healthy he will be a great addition and will create space for others.

There's no way to sugar coat the Brown deal. If he improves (and there's much belief that after 7 years he is what he is) then he is less of a liability. I'm hoping they can still trade him to some team desperate for a volume scorer/established name. His salary escalates every season to continue being a huge pct of the cap. Tatum and (healthy Porz) are worth big money. Tatum is definitely worth the max. Brown is worth maybe half that.
