would be like if Belichick hadn't won 3 Super Bowls?

Replace Brady with Cassel.
Cut Gostkowski.
BB is arrogant.
Blah, blah.

And this is after 3 SB wins.

Get a grip or get off the bandwagon. Sheesh.

No way, we have every right to rant after a horrible performance. We can't get complacent and after every loss think "well we won three super bowls!!".

While all of the psycho-analyst fans wonder if winning made Brady soft or spoiled, they should stop and look at how they are acting after the first loss of a 2-1 sixteen game season.

I don't know why you guys have this attitude. The Brady we've seen this whole season has not been the Brady that we've come to accept as the best quarterback in the league. For me, this is cause for speculation and discussion. There must be a reason for it other than 'ah, it's just one game... or two, or three'.

You have every right to rant. No doubt about that. I also have the right to call you ridiculous. I also have the right to bring up past performance when talking about the current FO. I am not complacent and I highly doubt the Patriots are either. They lost a game. I expected them to play better. You expected them to play better. Guess what? I bet the FO did too. I bet the players themselves did too. Guess what else? We will not win every game and likely will lay an egg once or twice a season no matter what. We have won 3 of the last 5 SBs. It is week 3. We are 2 and 1. People's posts, like yours, have every right to be posted. And again, I have every right to point out how foolish the context of your post is.

So the team is immune from criticism because we've won SB's in the past? Man, those 49ers fans must really be a happy bunch.

I'm with Straggler et al. on this one.

No, the team isn't playing perfectly. But to take the "The sky is falling, we have to completely overhaul this team right now" attitude would not improve things.

I don't have a crystal ball that'll tell me how the Pats will do now or in the future, but I do think their chances of winning more Lombardis is better if they don't panic than if they do.

A right to rant, yes. A right to stupidity, no.

We have seen this Brady before. He usually shows up to play against Denver. But I've also seen him against the Bills, Miami, Pittsburgh, even the Texans once. It's the same guy.

If you really want me to analyse him, he's not in rhythm. He has command of the pocket when he knows he can hold the ball a certain amount of time. Right now, either the pocket is collapsing or his receivers aren't getting open in that amount of time. That means he's lost what makes him so dangerous: the ability to move around the pocket, pick his spots, set, make his throws. instead, we're seeing a guy who is uncertain about his receivers next move, and he's not getting in rhythm.

I translate this as: Brady is not used to playing with these WRs in this offense. It happens. I'm sure he's going to look a ton better as the season moves along.

I didn't say they are immune from criticism. I said they should be immune from this stuff: Replace Brady with Cassel. Cut Gostkowski. BB is arrogant.
Blah, blah.

Actually, it would be great.

We'd be 2-1 with 2 division wins.

And none of those people would be here.

Think about it.,

(not that I'd give up any SB wins, but it would be nice to talkabout what we need to do to improve instead of the mindless doomsday ignorant chatter we have.)

Yeah, there is a reason. Talent drain. His best receiver is Troy Brown, just like in 2001, only David Patten hasn't emerged yet. We're used to seeing him run a read and react offense with guys who know how to read and react. There are two choices, dumb it down which is what the hurry up basically does or keep working at elevating the WR's understanding of the offense.

The FOB (friends of Bill) will try to lay this at Brady's feet. Fact is this is a direct result of a calculated financial decision Belioli made. I have no problem with them not wanting to overpay Deion Branch. Or David Givens. But in a year where there was slim pickens in FA they chose Reche Caldwell who is a project #2-3 at best. Then in the weakest draft for WR in ages they chose Chad Jackson who either has a chronic hammie condition or is struggling with the offense, or maybe a little bit of both. Then when it became clear the Branch situation had deteriorated to the point he was best traded, they picked up a guy on the eve of the season with some promise who is also apparently battling hammy troubles and also had no camp time in this offense. And then tonight they apparently chose to protect him even though he was active until the game was spiraling out of control.

The 3 headed running game looked to be good enough to bail them out, but then Corey went down. And the TE's can't pick up the WR slack because they remain inconsistent receivers. The defense looked solid against the run and the front 7 was mitigating the shaky secondary - until Shannahan came to town. Aside from our punter ST is contributing little. This defense can be stout at times but they just don't create turnovers. Tackling is still sketchy and tonight they looked slow. BB showed tonight that his confidence in his rookie PK is already wavering after two blocked kicks in a row.

BB said tonight they need to improve every facet of their game including coaching. Of course that's a little bit of a pre-emptive hide for him but it certainly is true. He might want to add to that improvement list game planning and FA pro player evaluation and roster construction.

I'm sure they will get it all figured out and win a weak division and make the playoffs again. I just hope the players aren't burnt out in the effort as they were last January. Particularly the franchise QB. He said tonight in his post game he is so far beyond the Deion and David losses. He is just trying to build some chemistry with his new WR's (...who show up in any given game or quarter I bet he was thinking.)

No. Feel free to be critical. I will be. There is plenty to be critical about regarding this evening's performance. Where it becomes foolish is this one game defining the Patriots. It becomes foolish when no context is apllied. Please, look at the past season's after week 3. Did it define us? Did it define 01? Did it define 02? Did it define 05 (pardon if I got the years wrong)? A team that takes a loss in week 3 along with 2 less than stellar victories the previous 2 weeks, this is what you can draw definite conclusions about? First, they are disregarding history. Not only this team's history but others. Second, they are letting emotion get the better of them. Why? Because you should not even need to look at history to know that the beginning 18.75 percent of a season does not a season or team make. I bet the Red Sox would love to take only the beginning 18.75 percent of the season but it just doesn't work that way. I bet the Phins would have LOVED to take just the beginning 18.75 percent of the season over many of the previous seasons. Are you getting my drift here? Believe me, I will be much more critical come week 10 if we are still laying eggs and playing lackluster. But I will not get caught up in this logic lacking, knee jerk, talk radio, instant gratification sky is falling BS. Let me ask you something, if the Patriots go out and win in Cincy next week in fine form, are we then a well oiled machine?I am not saying it will happen but just asking the hypothetical.
