That - or he was just visiting family? That could be another inference. After how this week has gone and any inferences that have been made from what I and others have pointed to, I know that it is important not to make any conclusions based on inference......
Well, that's the problem..
Do we either kill off the extremists or starve them of their resources to create more extremist jidhadists out of dozens and dozens of angry, misled youths who are brainwashed into believing that heavenly rewards are going to come from their suicidal missions?
If we kill off the extremists that preach violence or jidhadism, more extremists would simply take their places. On the other hand, if, through education, benevolence, community work, people reach out to those youths in intervention programs, their paths to jidhadism would be averted.
I'm surprised that Muslims aren't actively searching for those hate/rant videos and reaching out in intervention to the kids that make them.
Yes, which is why I also posted this:
"That's the best scenario (taking him alive), but I'm fine if all of the pieces of his dead body are collected by a broom and a dustpan, as long as nobody else's pieces are mixed in."
Meaning, IF he blows himself up, nary a tear from me as along as he blows ONLY himself up. But of course taking him whole, figuring out where he got these ideas, finding out if there was "terrorist coaching", etc. would of course be benefit.
But with every hour that goes by I'd have to think that the chances of taking him alive get less and less likely
I wouldn't call it being a nuisance. They should have never been allowed to be that close in the first place, just like the manhunt for Christopher Dorner. The media was miles away from any danger. Also, I wouldn't characterize that as a clash. The reporter was compliant, but moving a satellite van, cables and all that other equipment isn't that simple.
Not likely after gets his Miranda rights......and invokes it...
Considering that there are over a billion people calling themselves Muslim, what's a very small number ?
A half million ? A million ?
Of the ten million Muslims in this country, a small number, like 100,000, could be extremists ?
I'm still amazed that people just don't take this threat seriously.
So the answer to that is wholesale, indiscriminate invasion?
If through international community outreach we were able to work hand in hand with the Muslims, those radicals would be much easier to root out because we'd have a much earlier warning system in place.
I was being kind by saying they were being a nuisance. And we agree. They never should have been that close. But, as the reporter said, he's had to be thrown out of crime scenes. Basically saying that they'll do whatever it takes for their story. The fact that the BPD had to publicly admonish the media by releasing the statement about not filming tactical positions because they were putting police officers lives at risk shows that the media didn't care about anything but their story..
Much lower than that.. what are the numbers of Muslims who've actually engaged in terrorism and blown themselves up this year? I bet it is in the 100's.
Look at it this way, do you even think about what people are doing everyday halfway around the globe? Chances are you don't even think about them at all because you're going about your life.
I'm willing to bet the same is true of 99% of the people halfway across the globe. They are not even thinking about us, just going about their everyday life. Eating, ****ting and going to the market. That is, unless a stray bomb hits and kills someone they know or love, and turns some of them into radicals just like that.
Considering "them" a "threat" is to me, looking at things in a violent way.
EDIT 198 1:20: Apparently the 'hostage' was frightened by a police officer with a gun.
EDIT 197 1:18: House with 'hostage' was clear.
EDIT 196 1:17: They made sure the situation from 185/177 is definitely clear.
EDIT 195 1:15: "Ambulance on the way to evaluate her."
EDIT 194 1:14: People are telling me they said the hostage is safe.
Pretty sure that, under the Patriot Act, he won't be Mirandized. They'll capture him, take him to Virginia, and then on to Guantanamo...
Because this worked so well after 9/11 in the search for Bin Laden and others connected with him..
I wonder if they'll torture him, or if those days are over.
Did you guys hear what CBS Boston just reported? They have reported that Suspect #2 was at UMass-Dartmouth's campus this week and following what happened on Monday and was seen by friends.
If that is true, then it is truly unbelievable.
I think that's a topic for a different forum..
As my loved one didn't have to jump from a burning tower, and as none of my children are in the military (you know, the men and women who will have to dodge IED's as they wait for your theory to show progress), I might be inclined to try what you suggest. However, as I already said, our continued debating of this will only result in a circle, the real question is what can the public abide.
Can we please try to keep the politics out of this thread?
Members of the KKK, the Westboro Baptist Church, and Timothy McVeigh all consider / considered themselves to be good Christians. They are about as mainstream to Christianity as Al Quiada terrorists are to the Muslim religion, which to the overwhelming majority of its followers has abiding principles of nonviolence at its core.
My many Muslim friends are as appalled by the bombings as much as are my Christian friends (I consider myself neither)
