Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore, or Margus Hunt at 29?

I will scede to you Kontradiction but Carradine is getting a lot of good pub, if not for his knee him and Werner would be neck and neck.

There's no doubt. It's just my opinion that he's always been overrated. It think Werner will end up being the better pro of the two.

I think Werner has more upside than Tank, but is Werner willing to put in the work to help realize that potentail?

Don't think Werner will make it to our 1st pick and imo moore and hunt are second round values.

Don't worry.

With Seabass on our team, we can have him slap BW beside the head and talk in Pig Latin.

Hunt's age is a little bit of a concern for me.

No one said that Werner was going to be the 9th overall pick. If he were available at 29, there would be plenty of teams wanting to trade with us. For us, he is simply too short.

To short? Ninkovich is 6'2, Francis is 6'2, Cunningham is 6'3 we're hardly a ride at six flags.

We have a high need for CB, but there'll be good players available in the second. (Jamar Taylor would work for me, though, at 29.)

If the Florida State player with elite athleticism and excellent size is available at our place, we take him and watch Bill Belichick act like a preteen girl at a Justin Bieber concert. Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

CBS Sports has him ranked ninth as the best player but all the mocks have him taken in the 13-19 range in the first. But what if he keeps falling?

Sssh. Don't tell anyone, but the Patriots have their fingers crossed this kid, relatively new to football, falls to them. Unlikely to as far as 29, so would we trade up using picks from future years? It's not our modus operandi, but heck he's the Vrabel we could get to complement the McGinest from last year, Chandler Jones.

How many sacks did we get on the immobile Ravens QB in the AFC Championship Game?

Yes, that's right. Zero.

We need to get at him and Manning, guys who have laser-guided grenade launchers for arms. But the game completely changes when we can start sacking them. We could bring back the best players we've ever had in the secondary--and they'd just pick us apart if they have the time.

It's not just a pass-happy league. It's a pass-crazy one.

And the fact that a top 15 player could fall to us at 29--Why exactly? Does he have character concerns? No. Athletic limitations? No.--would be better than good.

If he's gone, then we make every effort to trade out of the first and pick up extra value. Or consider Moore, who looked slow, weak, and disinterested at the Combine, or Hunt, whom I think the Patriots may be high on as well.

I have a hard time spending a pick on Werner when Bequette is taller, bigger, had equally as good college stats and out performed him every combine event and he couldn't even get on the field.

Could not agree more, I've been a big backer of Hunt since the bowl game that he completely dominated. He has everything they're looking for, except too many days spent on the planet. I'll be ok with that...they drafted Kaczur at 27, they could certainly draft Hunt at 26.

Kaczur was 25 when drafted (turned 26 a few months later).

Werner is falling because of the Ansah and Jordan love fest, nothing against Werner, but he isn't a 6'5" physical specimen with track pedigree. Werner does have incredible burst off of the line. I still don't see him being picked by us if he falls that far. Belichick apparently values pass rush specialists as 3rd round and beyond.

I'd love for Margus Hunt to be on the Patriots long enough for his age to become an issue. That would mean that he didn't flame out in two seasons and get cut. I don't think Hunt has the right instincts to play for us though, definitely a run first ask questions later player. He's also a little stiff and I see him getting blown off of the line in obvious running situations.

I don't know. I'll give him a call later and see where his head is at on the issue. ;)

I think the Pats end up picking hunt because he has the position versatility Bill likes. He could play some DT in a 4-3, DE in a 3-4, and DT in nickel/dime pass rush sets.

If Werner was there (which I don't think he will be) he would have to be the pick though. He gets his hands under pads and more importantly sheds the hands of defenders. He is going to be extremely good.

If we get either one of these and add a wide receiver like Hopkins, Woods or Allen in the second round I would be ecstatic.

What will happen is that we will trade back numerous times and end up with a bunch of guys that I didn't want beforehand but begrudgingly agreed were good.

I agree we probably trade down a couple of times, starting with our first.

And I think the Steelers are very interested in Werner.

Just rewatched some of Hunts bowl game. Pretty dominant at times. Certainly has some flaws, clumsy angles, upright a little too much. Flaws that can be corrected except for the age. I like his instincts and he would do well imo playing alongside Wilfork and Jones after awhile. Doubt he gets past the Broncos but if he does I would be very ok with the pick.

I don't like any of these three at No. 29. The only way I see us using this pick is if a premier DT or one of the "elite" Guards falls to us. Otherwise we need to trade out and get more picks.

Watched some highlights on Werner, he always lined up on the defensive left (going against the right tackle). He will play the same role in the NFL, for most of his sacks he blew right past the tackle. This bodes well for him in the NFL where he could immediately play LDE as a pass rusher in sub formations. As a pure pass rusher he would be an upgrade over Ninko but is no where near the complete player.

Werner goes #10 to Titans here:

NFL Draft Mock 2013 | NFL Draft Mock Draft

He won't fall to 29. I'd take Demontre Moore with the #1 and Akeem Spence with a late round pick. Spence was the strongest DL at the combine and would make a nice protege for Vince Wilfork.

Moore: Damontre Moore Draft Profile
Werner won't make it to #29 but he is also very unlikely to go top ten. NYG at #19 is probably his ceiling.

As for Moore - ick. I doubt we'd take him with our #2 if he were there. Immature, poor work ethic, not a good athlete. No thanks.

I really like Margus Hunt as a late 1st Rounder and think he's more NFL Ready than most fans think.

He's got a long torso, he's going to be hit in the ribs and driven back on many plays. He seems like a kick blocker at this point.

FWIW, we were one of the teams present at Tank Carradine's personal pro day (and had him in for a visit). Carradine ran a 4.75 which is excellent for a 270lb DE coming off a serious knee injury. Throw in his 32 reps @225 and he has an intriguing speed/power combination.

Aside from Ziggy, Carradine is the DE I think best fits the Pats and the one I'd be happiest drafting in the first. At the very least, Carradine's come back from injury will probably push someone else down to us.

Trade up to sign Impact-Werner.
Fellow German SeaBass will help him to Convert into Pats System in Lightning Speed. Select an WR with next pick, Brady will make EVERY 2nd or 3rd rounder shine....
