Ochmed Jones

So as of today, our starting secondary is:

CB outside - Jon jones
FS - mills
SS1 - Duggar
SS2 - Phillips
CB - jack jones
Nickel - marcus jones
Dime - Bryant

Another corner would move jack jones to nickel

What is bb thinking?

Thanks for putting the list together. A tall CB1 would make this group great. I think BB really likes Mar and Jack Jones. There will also be injuries so an extra player is always good. I hope we can push Bryant off the list ;-). Probably a FS type in R4 too I am guessing.

Very familiar bc of UG he was part of that special squad. He's one of those guys that looks like a model. I'm not surprised by those #'s He's a workout warrior, ran track in HS think 10.60 100m? Just gifted in that department. He's got some range and it shows up on tape. His athleticism just takes over but he's got no idea how to play the position. Just no "feel" for a routes development and a WR tendencies. Like almost all the plays you see him make are highlights the little stuff ain't there. I'd take a shot as a project in a new secondary but we've got some dogs back there. I'm not wasting a spot on him. I'd be interested to see him take a chance at Saf. Not as stiff as guys like Ringo, Garner, Smith, Stevenson but a CB in a Saf body. In Speeds case its just his overall game that needs a lot of work. He was getting worked in UG practices.

Played some sub LB mostly box/ss. Tough kid that plays with a lot of effort, heart fight. Better the closer he is to the los. He has the #'s but he's a longshot bu saf to start. Played everywhere - slot, box, fs. Gets grabby in coverage can cover in a short area but he has trouble downfield. Better on bang bang stuff his recognition anticipation is decent but not NFL decent. He's a project maybe project LB in sub. Uphill battle for both.

In the Starting Line-Up
It would appear that the Patriots are looking very seriously at CBs for this draft. Do you think that is because they intend to cut Jack Jones?

Unfortunately, you’re correct. Ameer Speed, a transfer from Georgia to Michigan State, came with a buzz about his elite size and speed and pedigree. What a disappointment to see him on the football field!

The performance doesn’t align with his elite numbers. He’s a PS player who perhaps can learn technique. His instincts, though, are just not there.

He regularly got beaten in the Big Ten. Maryland, for example, even treated him like a weak link in a secondary filled with broken links.

Veteran Starter w/Big Long Term Deal
I've watched a few more corners now. I like Banks, Turner, Forbs, Gonzales, Witherspoon, Smith, Hodges-Tomlinson, and a few others as starters. I'm seeing a lot of love for some players who look like they have some serious problems with defending multiple moves (Ringo and Porter, who are awesome covering downfield on fades, and that's about it), or who flub fundamentals far too often (Brents, who I want to like more than I do). I think there's a real chance to come away with a #1 corner and a speedy slot guy (Turner?) who can run with the Hill and Waddle types in our division. Pretty deep group, and I haven't even watched all of them.

Even with the shady, unreliable Jackoff Should've Been Tariq Woolen Jones here, our Outside CBs still suck.

Says the guy who's only right with is hindsight predictions.

Jack Jones and Jon Jones are #2 caliber Outside Corners. Marcus Jones lined up outside in college as much as he lined up in the slot.
Do they need ANOTHER outside corner? YES.

For you to say what we have "sucks" is pathetically asinine. It shows that your level of football competence is that of Pee Wee Level and nothing more.

@BaconGrundleCandy -- What's your take on Cody Trice out of Purdue? 4.46 - 40. 4.06 Short Shuttle. 6.70 - 3 cone. 35.5" vertical. 11' Broad jump. 17 Reps on the Bench.

A possible free safety conversion?
