Belichick's Decision to Move Brady Thread

Wozzy

In the Starting Line-Up
You're wrong!

This is the order with the dates:

February 1, 2022 Brady announces first "retirement."

March 13, 2022 Brady announces he's returning to Tampa Bay for the 2022 season.

March 30, 2022 Arians announces retirement from coaching and move to Bucs front office. Todd Bowles is named new head coach.

Hey bub, you're only off by 17 days!
yeah…. what changed that coaxed Tom out of retirement?

Lauaghable the lengths you ball washers will go. And it’s unthinkable that Tom would do this, almost as unthinkable as him meeting with the Dolphins owner on his yacht to sandbag Flores while still under contract with the Patriots.

I suppose next you’ll tell us the concussion and covid cures were real and the magic underwear promotes healing.

It's not ballwashing when what you're saying is just anti Brady narrative. All the local beat reporters/writers, Arians, TB12, Arians family himself have all said there was no rift and that Arians just wanted Bowles to get a shot.

If you want to believe the national media story on the rift that's fine too but you're now choosing to believe what you want to believe and not the facts itself

Are we talking about the NFL and football or unrelated off-field matters? Because the two are not the same. You can carry on about Brady being a kook off the field, associating with a weirdo fraudster, or being a ****ty husband and father. I really don't care. I'm talking about his NFL career.

Seems like your timeline and facts may be a bit misaligned (per usual).

It's comical too that you bring up Flores to criticize Brady.

"I think there are back channel conversations and back channel meetings that are had that oftentimes influence decisions. I think [the Giants hiring process] is a clear example of that. Bill Belichick is a clear example of that. His resume speaks to that. It was clear to me that decision was made with his influence. That's part of the problem. That needs to change. There needs to be a fair and equal opportunity to interview and showcase your abilities to lead and earn one of those positions." ~ Brian Flores February 3, 2022

Hmm... seems like Flores thinks Belichick ****ed him over. As well as blatantly lied to him after making a complete ass of himself by not being able to sort out the contacts on his own cell phone.

He never even said the word "retirement" at the time and he didn't file paperwork with the league. He was trying to get out of Tampa Bay for an opportunity elsewhere but the Bucs had him under contract and eventually it just became clear to Brady that they weren't letting him go. The exact timing of his stated intention to return for the 2022 season had everything to do with the start of free agency.

Tampa Bay could have done something so incredibly idiotic like hire Matt Patricia as the offensive coordinator for the 2022 season and Brady still would have had one, and only one, opportunity to play that season. It was Tampa Bay or nowhere (because he was still under contract). Arians, Bowles, or Scooby-Doo at head coach wasn't going to change that.

Letting Arians leave with dignity was the best way forward... the only way forward.

I'm not getting into a protracted word scramble with you. That you think the two things were unrelated shows a clear "Brady is flawless" bias that peppers all of your posts. It's ridiculous fan worship.

He has cardiac health issues. He probably would have collapsed on the sideline from a literal heart attack if he had stayed on as the head coach. But never mind that, let's stick with the no proof whatsoever narrative of Brady getting Arians fired before he would agree to come back.

My sole issue with letting Brady go was getting nothing in return for him. He's more than welcome to walk but if he is going to, you tag him and receive a king's ransom from a team going all-in on a championship run. It was criminally negligent they didn't absolutely fleece Tampa.

He never gave the Patriots an option to get anything of value for him. He didn't want to be franchise tagged. He has already talked to another team before the 2019 season started. The time to get value for him was when he cried to the national media about being the biggest 8-0 crybaby in the NFL. I would love to know when BB found out about CryBradys traitor moves involving Flores and the Dolphins. Imagine, he got A. Brown, J. Gordon, Sanu, and Brady still wasn't happy? No wonder he was let go. Poor locker room presence will kill a team.

That has been his MO. Keep a top player until he wants to be paid and them dump him, usually for next to nothing. It's possible that he's done that with every HOFer or potential HOFer that played for him here. Just recently he's done it with Thuney, Gronk and Brady and way back he did it with Big Sey.

Clear as day it was a massive mistake by Bill and Bob not to give Brady the Brees 2 yr $50m. Not just because we had no replacement for him but the fact the greatest player ever was allowed to leave and now will always have another team associated with him. Bob and Bill ****ed up, plain and simple.

If Bill brings in Lamar for way more than it would have cost to extend Brady then there will and should be a fan revolt.

He won't though.

What would a fan revolt look like? I'm not sure this Tom Brady forum isn't already the definition of it, but I'm curious what your definition is.
I loved watching Brady play for all those years, but it is over and it's time to enjoy the Patriots in the only way I know how. I'm all in!
