Its an Imperial Pilsner. Sorry. 8.9% alcahol, yet very full of barley (I'd say probably a light roast of a 6 row) and the hops! Hallertau Millefreu. Multiple hoppings late. If you wanna taste what used to be my secret recipe:mad: ,give it a try. Beware its out only for a short time, and its unfiltered.

Nah -- just back from a (college) football game in beautiful (20 deg.) weather. Weird scene (bands, cheerleaders, old geezers in funny hats and blazers) but a surprisingly entertaining afternoon. Been so busy this last couple of weeks that I haven't time for any more fun :) -- got to catch up on my life!

Shirtsleeve. Thanks. I will look out for this -- will it be in my friendly neighbourhood bottle shop?

Yup, should be, if they carry a pretty full line of Sams. If not, ask the purveyor, and he should be able to talk to the distributor on the next delivery.

Well, I've just woken up after a night in which Miss Gcat reckons I drunk about 9 pints of Courage Best.
It was a good game of Rugby and the English lads gave a great account of themselves.

I'm trying to remember the name of it but I was in Slovakia and had one of "their brews" and f*ck me it blew me socks off. I only remember it being a brown bottle and the barmaid was a bit tasty. Then I went down the street to stumble upon a bar hosting ale from across europe, most I'd never even heard of. Then I got drunk I think.

Some serious alcohol in Slovakia though.

I thought I would revive this thread for some seasonal beer discussion...

    Two favorites this year are

    1. Roxy Rolles (Magic Hat): Hoppy Amber Ale and brewed with an English Ale yeast and pale, crystal and dark crystal malts; and hopped with Brewer's Gold, Simcoe and dry-hopped with more Simcoe. An against-the-grain winter seasonal.

    2. Gritty's Christmas Ale.

    Any other favorites out there.....

I graduated school about 2 years ago and at that point all i drank was busch lite or Skol Vodka. Bud light was good beer and rarely drank for $$$$ reasons...

well lately i've been trying all sorts of different kinds of beers. I love it.

And then for my Birthday this year my girlfriend got me this....
    http://www.microbeerclub.com/
They give you 12 beers a month, shipped to your door...
4 different types, 3 of each from different microbreweries around the US.

So far, these are my favorites....
    Flying Dog Pale Ale
    [IMG]

    Nutfield Old Man Ale.

I've just been in Europe for two weeks. But France is not a good country to drink beer in ... On my way back to the U.S. I stopped over in Oxford and treated myself to a pint of beer and a plate of fish and chips. The beer was St Austell "Tribute", a bitter from Cornwall -- and it was terrific (the fish and chips were excellent too).

I'll be going by Yankee Spirits on Sat and they're like a supermarket of beer/micro brews. I've seen Flying Dog there (The Scarfe artwork always stands out) but, I'm not buying anything with the word nut in it. I'm going to look for something Super Bowl worthy.

Wow..... no action here since the SB..... I'm still hungover about it myself.

Nice to see another bier area on the web, though....

Following superstition, I was drinking bier from Victory Brewing (PA), as I had for the previous Pats SB wins, and the last 2 Sox WS wins. Didn't work this time.....

I gots to say, I love Smuttynose biers, especially their current offering, Baltic Porter. Fave brewpub is the Portsmouth (NH) Brewery. Their Russian Imperial Stout, on last December, was off the charts delicious!

Have seen lots of UK and German bier props given here. Last London visit I quaffed more than a couple of cask-conditioned Old Peculiar. Nice stuff.... And Andechs Doppelbock Dunkel from south of Muncih is also superb....

    Prosit!!

Edit: btw - I use beeradvocate.com for my bier info....

It was a hoppy beer. It wasn't that different from Sam Adams Boston Lager. It cost me 9 bucks for the rack so I won't be buying another but, I enjoyed it. Even if the first one I had was during Super Bowl (blech) XLII.

I can drink any beer except Miller Lite and Heineken. Can't stand the taste of either.

they have ratings, you can rate them yourself, you can look up the best or crappiest beer you've ever had and see what other people think.
