Back about a month or so, I decided to self-ban myself from Boston sports radio...

May I add:

Well, I’m in Nashville and listen to WEEI daily. I hate country music and the sports talk radio here is terrible. I mean, terrible. So maybe I’m in the minority, but I enjoy it most of the time. 98.5 the hub on the other hand, wow, it’s like they HATE the Pats. I don’t listen to them.
Try SiriusXM. Both music and sports talk.

Talk radio is supposed to get you riled up. Anger is addictive.

People who disagree light up the lines at the stations.

It's a con game, whether in politics or sports. It's anger-pornography, nothing more.

do not ever listen to that shytbird, Patrick Gilroy...worst out of a barrel of scum

I had to stop watching and listening to shows like “undisputed “ and the herd. Nimrods on these shows get me angry, then I start thinking about drinking them away. Then my Tourette’s kicks on.

They are like a mass disinformation campaign

That's Felger and squeakeys schtick. They're the worst, trolls getting paid, unbelievable, but they get ratings so someone's listening.

I like Bedard, even when I disagree with him. But I listened to the same show and I can understand why the ban is back.

I'm not a country music fan here so I hear ya on that...but the wife is. Nashville is a great city.

Had a vacation over the summer and got to be friendly with a well-to-do couple from Nashville. Had drinks with him and such. He was a member of a CC down there. Forget the name. Anyway said Mike Fischer was the nicest guy you'd meet. Golf, have beers, Real down to earth guy.

Carrie Underwood.... c-word with a capital C. Snooty, stuck-up. Surprising how she grew up middle class.

Yeah, I work at the airport so have run into a few of the hockey players and they have always been very cool. Talked to Jason McCourty once when he played for the Titans, he was another down the earth nice guy too. Country music stars...not so much.

Bedard gets hammered here but at least the guy has an educated and informed opinion and makes an effort to know the subject matter. I make fun of him all the time but I do respect his analysis even though I disagree with it 1/2 the time.

While it may be true that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, apparently they can teach themselves. :D

I have up on media and news quite awhile ago. The purpose of all media, to me, is to keep people emotionally charged/angry and probably distracted. And social media is where the masses elect to vent...so I avoid that too (with few exceptions if you classify a site like patsfan as social media).

Is it worth it? Just curious.
Yes, I have one in each of 3 vehicles and the app on my phone. If you're really a music fan, particularly of different genres as I am, it's really great. However, there is one downside that I've experienced - namely, after having subscribed for 10 plus years, I've found I'm addicted to it.

Thanks. I've been tempted to give it shot a few times. I'll try it out.

Football discussion probly makes more money than the playing of the game. They can't shut up for 7 days leading up to the next game.

It's curious why they get the ratings. Psychologists pushing buttons on feeble fans. The game is interesting enough to get attention. I don't know why but when I'm driving I'm usually on that espn channel..

Except saw great documentary on Jeff Beck last night .. switching back to music.!!

I've listened to NY, Chicago, Philly, & Boston sports podcasts through the years. Boston is by far the most negative. Everything is about the other team, and how much better they are. Felger and Mazz said they'd be shocked if this Patriots team lost by any less than 10 Sunday. Right. Because this team has shown a pattern of underachieving in the postseason. Not like they've won any SB's or anything. I was done with these jokers after ten minutes. Even fellow employees who have lived in the NE region talk about how negative everyone is toward their sports teams. I stopped listening to the clowns. This team deserves more respect than that.

Agree and they don't care It's all about the ratings...

Red Sox win the WS on a Sunday night. That Monday Felger and Mazz spent the first hour talking about Kinsler's error in game 3. I couldn't believe it.
I can.

...and Spazzarotti harped on Mookie not hitting like he should have....again...and again....and again.

Local Boston sports radio is extremely negative yet they win every year
