Lots of negros vs lots of whites.
Shmesser you are transparent. Next time leave out the past. At least the post becomes what it is more fawning.

The original post was a paean to E Pluribus Unum and the good feeling of our nation when it comes together united - - just like the 2005 Inaugural Parade, as I posted 4.5 years ago. Glenn Beck is saying the same thing with his 9/12 Project.

The subsequent posts, evidently, were from people who did not share that feeling.

You're actually correct there. I misspoke in my original post.

We are many peoples from different backgrounds who come together (sometimes) as a nation.

The term E. Pluribus Unum, in fact, underscores that - - it doesn't necessarily condone "the melting pot" (a term I've always disgreed with - - it connotes losing one's background and melting into something homogenous) but it celebrates how in America (more than any other nation on earth) one can CELEBRATE and MAINTAIN one's unique identity/background while still being part of a nation that comes together in the long run.

The fact that much of our nation can actively disagree with the policies of the Governement at any time is a great thing.

If some people don't believe in E. Pluribus Unum, that's their choice.

Nice sentiments, E Pluribus Unum. But who decides the "Unum"?? The media decided years ago it would be either Hillary or some other Dem, no chance for anyone else.

    Literal translation: "From many, one"

Interpretations: varied (from melting pot to more of a stew.) But some unification is involved.

What it does not mean, and only an idiot could think it means, is that the phrase is a call for a dictatorship or monarchy. The "one" in E pluribus unum is not, in the eyes of any translator worth his salt, a reference to a specific individual.

It is about peoplehood. It does not escape me that the same people who complain about "hyphenated Americans," now complain that we are one people, NOT under the leadership of their own hyphenated segment, which hitherto had gone by the misleading name of "just plain American," because "European-" had previously been assumed.

Look how these same voices become shrill when a man with both African and European lineage becomes president. See how they declare us "not one people." Watch them squirm, and qualify, and spin their way away from a simple patriotic declaration by Shmessy.

I don't know whether the GOP represents primarily this sort of person, or whether we have real fringies here on Patsfans. Unless these guys are aberrant in the rank and file of said party, I wonder what comes next. A party mired in this sort of rubbish becomes increasingly irrelevant as the racial balance, and the country's consciousness, change.

Racist dudes: you lost. Not just the election, the whole shootin' match. Move on to politics revolving around issues, not around race... or consider Obama your 160 million year old asteroid, and deal w/the mass extinction event. The country won't ever be some Donna Reed black and white fantasy again... not that it ever (in reality) was.

Morning in America, sweeties! Wake up!

I think the true test is what we'd do if the "enemy" came driving in from Canada or Mexico. We haven't been tested enough to find out how united-how tied to the land we are, IMO.

I think America is actually more than one country. There's very few similarities between Texas, New England and Florida, so I'll give you that. I just think the whole North American continent would defend their neighbors to the death. I trust the Canadians and Mexicans a lot, and I trust the Montanans and New Mexicans even more. We might never know how united we are the way Europeans and Asians do.
