If they are working him out and considering signing him, it’s probably because they have word from someone in the NFL behind the scenes that he either won’t be suspended, or will only be suspended one week. You put him in that offense opposite Michael Thomas and that’s nighty night for the NFC.

Could be they want him for next season and want him to start serving his suspension now. Or they’re rolling the dice for either one.

Why would the NFL want an ultra talented character (albeit a clown) like Antonio Brown off the field for any length of time? Those allegations have more than a reasonable doubt, he’s entertaining to watch on the field, and he brings attention to the game off of it with his antics. Remember, this is a business.

If they had a word, the other 31 teams would have that word as well. He ain't playing this year, book it.

If he signs and actually plays for NO without a suspension Brady I’m assuming would be raged out.

So then the alternative explanation is that the Saints are wasting time, money, and resources working him out for absolutely no reason whatsoever since he will just be suspended. Stop and think about it. Do you honestly believe that? Furthermore, why would the NFL want him off the field? More talent is better for business.

Maybe privately, but Brady wouldn’t say **** about it to the media. He’s too much of a pro for that. If he still wants to play going into the offseason, that might hurt the cause of resigning him for one last run just a bit. But I don’t see where else he would go. Belichick has proven that he’s been able to get this stuff right eventually in the past. Their working relationship has also reportedly gotten back on track after a rocky few months there. Hell, if Kraft really was behind this and the dude signs, is allowed to play, and helps the Saints in the playoffs, BB himself might have a sour taste in his mouth.

The alternative explanation is very simple: Sign him now while he's a free agent for next year.

He technically cant be on the exempt list because he is not on a team. There is a reason the Seahawks signed gordon instead of him.

He will not play this year. Mark my words.

This is smart imo. You try and get him to agree to a very specific contract, 2 years. I doubt AB would sign it.

He wouldn't be able to play. How are they selling their souls for a ring?

I just read Thomas may have a hand injury. Not sure the extent of it, so this may make sense for them.

Can't understand the group of posters here that have a fixation and hatred towards AB. By all accounts the guy worked hard and got along in the locker room, good teammate.

No player has been placed on the exempt list based on a "civil case" lawsuit. Goodell would be setting a precedent just as they are trying to negotiate the CBA.

It is a business that depends on players performing under multi year contracts and not slapping coaches and burning their feet off to get out of said contracts. The owners will make an example of Brown because what he did would set a harmful precedent for their business interests, far outweighing the few extra eyeballs that he might attract this year.

Considering the timing, if they’re going to suspend him, he will be suspended next year too. They’re also not working him out right before the playoffs with an eye toward next year. They could have done that in the offseason. This is move that reeks of something short term to provide a boost to the offense before the playoffs start. And, again, why would the NFL want Brown off the field for any length of time longer than what he’s already effectively served?
