Yes i do... Unless im mistaken, which i might be i readily admit, Those cap hits are based on already paid bonuses, thats Tennessee's problem... Trade for him, re-do deal so the first few years are cap friendly... He gets cash up front, we fill a need in the roster...

Love the player but knowing the NEP he'd need to rework his current deal in a major way and if he won't take a reduction in TN I dont see him interested in accepting one here. No way we pay him $13m in cash this year and next. I just don't see it.

Doesn't hurt to check it out... If Tennessee says no to a trade, all you've lost is the time of a phone call... If it gets beyond that, surely they can work a new deal thats workable to both player and team...

I'm all for it if it can help us... however yes FS is a hole...we need to sure up our CB situation first and foremost..

yep. Free market. Let the market decide.

Titans wanted to renegotiate, which to me says they think his price is high relative to his value. He refused, as is his right. Obviously he thinks he is worth what he is being paid. But if the Pats agree with the Titans that he’s being paid more than his value why would they want to trade fo him? That would secure his rights, but at a price that’s too high for his value as they see it.

I‘m saying it’s better to let him be released, if the Titans and Pats are right he’ll end up signing a contract for less than his current price; if he’s right he’ll sign for as much or maybe even more. Let the market decide.

Also makes a difference what they want for a trade. That’s a big part of the total price, in addition to his salary. It’s one thing to trade for a high salary if what’s traded is low, very different if it’s a first rounder.

I‘ve not been very enthusiastic about the trade because of his age, seems to me a 30 yo safety likely has his best years behind him. Better a year early philosophy applies. But DMac played well into his thirties, and Byard’s stats don’t show any erosion yet. So if he could be acquired for a late round pick even a one year rental might be worth it.
