I always show up at the earliest 4hrs before the game. Sometimes there is an open stadium lot, sometimes there is a line. There's usually plenty of non-stadium lots open though.

I've purchased tickets to 3 playoff games two years in a row off TM that wasn't part of the wait-list presale. I've actually found it easier to get playoff tickets than regular season tickets off of TM.

I don't know where you sat, but I was sweating my nuts off in there. Granted I was in the last row of the stadium, but in '03 it was NOWHERE close to as hot as on Sunday I'm not saying they DID turn up the heat, and that it's an excuse. Just that it was blazing in that dome.
