Here's the big difference between the Jets and the Pats.
On the Jets, Rex selects the team captains in order to create a cadre of appointed "leaders" who take their cues from him. Thus, Sanchez and Holmes being captains even though neither of them have earned any kind of leadership stripes...
Again, the difference is that the Patriots have eligible guys in uniform on that part of the sideline. The Jets are using inactive players illegally. That's a pretty major difference.
An inactive player is a lot less likely to back off from contact with a gunner on the sidelines than an...
Someone can correct me on the math, but here's how I see it breaking down:
Belichick's Patriots Record Pre-Spygate (including playoffs): 104-40. .722 Winning Percentage
Belichick's Patriots Record Post-Spygate (including playoffs): 28-6. .824 Winning Percentage
Mangini's Jets...
I'd have fired Mangini too.
Look, this guys stock in trade was supposed to be DEFENSE, right? The Jets have Pro Bowlers at CB (Revis), NT (Jenkins) and they now have near Pro Bowl caliber talent like Kerry Rhodes, Shaun Ellis and Calvin Pace.
Yet look at Mangini's defense during his...
The Patriots are the only team to rank in the top 10 in both passing yards per game and running yards per game through Week 16 this season. Pending next week's game, the 2008 Pats will be the first Patriot team since 1978 to achieve that feat.
Top 10 Rushing Teams (in order):

This is one of the most generous, selfless things I've ever seen from a professional athlete. Just a great story:
For this former Patriot, charity has a (very) nice ring to it
Re: Schefter:Disciplinary Action for wilfork
That's what I thought this was referring to also, hence my post. I didn't think that was all that bad.
Apparently, there was an elbow that Vince threw at Cutler that wasn't shown on TV...
Re: Schefter:Disciplinary Action for wilfork
I think a fine is totally in order but a suspension? For some finger pointing, slapping and shoving? I agree with Polamalu, Goodall is wussifying the NFL with every passing week.
It reminded me of the 2002 season when every team just destroyed the Pats with the same play over and over: Variations of of the fake end around, inside handoff/draw that lit us up that season - It's like the Patriots had no answer for it that year. That was the same year that we had problems...
Under the "Framing the Context" section, there really needs to be a mention of Bill Parcells's comments about Bill Walsh:
http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/10/01/bill-parcells-49ers-engaged-in-funny-business-during-1980s-play/
But in the press, Belichick=Satan and Walsh=Saint.
Needs...
Here's the quote from Walsh:
It seems to me that the NFL rule they asked Walsh to "evade" (which according to Walsh's quote above, was REALLY easy to accomplish, leading you to believe that (a) the rule was more like a loose guideline and (b) opposing teams didn't think that it was that...
