'Cause one more post to the current 16 page thread on the Fields trade would have been too much? (sigh)
Yet another whiny ass thread bemoaning the Pats inadequate 2024 roster. Apparently it is so bad it's hamstringing the front office from being able to trade for a failed QB. From a poster...
Every time Deebo Samuels name comes up I get a little pissed off. He was my very last Pats draft binkie, when they passed on him I promised myself never again.
Viewed in its totality (meaning one includes the position the 'new' FO was in at season's end) the Pats position headed into the draft is not all that bad. Not considering how much worse it could've been had they not taken care of business with their own FA's. New England needs OT and WR help...
Smith hasn't played a full slate since 2015. After what injuries did to the O line here last year I wasn't all that comfortable with him as a solution to our LT issues.
Cherry picking a single season vs the totality of their careers is some pretty weak sauce.
My original point of disagreement was with your contention "Fields is in a better place with the Steelers"
Tomlin hasn't shown he can bring a QB along at all, Pickett did worse than Mac. Not to mention...
Pickett had a worse QBR, TD/INT %, Y/A, Y/G etc than Jones and all under the supposed better conditions in Pittsburgh.
Your last point actually makes mine. Mac sucked here primarily because he was mentally weak under difficult circumstances, Pickett sucked under what you claimed were better...
Mac, 3 years in New England
Pickett, 2 in Pittsburgh.
A 1st rounder washing out in 2 years is significantly worse than one that washed out in 3. An entire year worse in fact, and that under the supposed better conditions in Pittsburgh.
I don't see what's so special about being able to to predict something that's only 6 weeks away after considering it for the previous 46 weeks. Hell, we're only a few days into the new league year and plenty of folks here already know how bad the as yet to be assembled '24 Pats are gonna suck.
PFT reporting Fields will have to take 51% of the snaps to move that 6th to a 4th.
