I enjoy the nfl as it is today, i would play football and let my kids play football but I am clearly on the losing side of the concussion argument. So the game will have to change or die, teaching good tackling technique has to help, if this rule encourages that then that's a good thing. As for...
That missed tackle in the new orleans-minnesota game really sums the problem up, players despite having all the new information about concussions continue to just throw their head into another player to bring them down. It's absolutely insane that they just continue to play that way when it...
It's been clearly shown that a helmet doesn't protect the players to a degree that is acceptable in the modern world. The only way the nfl can continue to thrive is to improve the helmets or take contact with the head out of the game as much as possible. All sports are going the same way...
The concussion issue is obviously very important, but I don't think it's the gamebreaker for the nfl that a lot people do. In many ways now is the best time to be playing the game, with how serious concussions are now treated it's going to become a competitive advantage to avoid them, where as...
I agree mays, clark and lombardi are good but I just can't be bothered with the concussions, domestic violence and kaepernick stuff. I know a lot of people don't agree but I just want to know about the teams and the games. The ringer seems to me to want to pile on the nfl whenever possible and...
In one breath simmons will tell you how brilliant middle of the road nba teams are to watch, great young talent etc, then he'll lambast the equivalent nfl games as unwatchable. He prefers basketball, which is fine but his opinion isn't unbiased. As for the ringer, the website very much preaches...
I've never played a down of american football, yet there is a fair chance I'll end up suffering from dementia. Alzheimers is a huge problem and has no link to concussions. The link with depression and suicide, again, it will affect thousands of people whether they have had a concussion or not...
Maradona over everybody else for me, I think people have to remember it was a different game back then, it was much more physical in the late 80's early 90's, must make it easier for the creative players now. He was an absolute beast. You have to wonder what feats him, pele and best could have...
People seem very high on langford for a guy with a 3.6 yard average. Good receiver I know but is he really all that? I suppose everybody is banking on the bears line being much better.
Well leeds have definitely had terrible ownership, would love to have had kraft running the show. Some on here seem to have turned on him though. On the overall point, I don't get how, I don't like how we've been treated by the nfl, becomes, I'm not watching the patriots play anymore. Seems a...
Supporting leeds utd I'm afraid being screwed over by the governing body and let down by terrible ownership is a way of life at this point. None of it will ever stop me going to the games. Same situation here, you don't have to love the nfl hierarchy to carry on loving the patriots. If you...
Didn't know union played anything other than 7's. Rugby league play a bit of 9's but really had no idea 10's existed. 7's always seems just a bit too loaded in favour of the attack to me.

Hopefully realistic if nothing else.
Of course they do, there is no silver bullett here. If the nfl wants to avoid becoming the equivalent of boxing in parents thinking though, they have to show they are aware of the issue and will do everything in their power to make it as safe as possible. I believe tackling is the one big area...
I agree with that but you wouldn't see a rugby player stick his head into someones knees, the helmet seems to give the players a sense of invincibility. Teach a safe tackling technique from a young age and hopefully that would at least reduce the number of concussions.
If that's the case then any sport with physical contact above jogging pace is surely doomed, soccer, both codes of rugby, aussie rules, ice hockey and I'm sure many more. Having never played the game I couldn't comment on the line play argument, would they not have to prove though that lineman...
To me this is all a tackling technique issue, the way some of the players just throw their heads into a tackle, it's no wonder concussions have been so prevalent. They have to be taught to play the game like they aren't wearing a helmet, head to the side and tackle with your shoulder and arms...
