    OT: Eclipse

I traveled in a bus convoy from home turf in Southern NH to the little town of Waterbury VT yesterday to be in the Total Eclipse zone. It was a really great experience. It definitely a bucket-list level thing since no solar eclipses will be on the Continental US till 2044 and by then I will...

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

Two things can be true: 1) Mac Jones deserved better 2) Mac Jones was never going to be a franchise-level QB IMO if (2) was different I think we'd have seen signs despite not having a great roster. We have with others. Plenty of QBs have had bad starts but showed enough signs to keep around...

    OT: Eclipse

This is the most helpful map I found, but note it is due to be updated today at 2PM. Someone I know chartered three busses and has a location secured in Burlington, and I will be joining. Once the 10 day weather forecast was published all busses sold out and there's now a waiting list 50...

NFL works with college presidents to form “Super League”

Interesting article about the kind of players we'll see less of if college football gets "pasteurized" by a super-league: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29000855/best-small-college-studs-ever-all-32-nfl-teams-payton-rice-mcnair-more For us they went with Malcolm Butler, whereas I would...

NFL works with college presidents to form “Super League”

Reminds me of the saying they used to have in Communist Russia: Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others. It suggests to me that human greed transcends both capitalism and communism. Modern China is a fine example of that.

NFL works with college presidents to form “Super League”

It's weird for me to go back to campus every decade or so. It's so clear that so much of the improvement there is due to bball. Not just for student athletes but for all students. It's the tribalism of sports that engages so many people outside the campus community. Having a governor who was...

    OT: NFL Network Cutbacks

The thing that seems different to me is that in my mind NFLN is not supposed to be a stand-alone profit center, but NFL treats it as one. In my mind NFLN is supposed to be a promotion for their sport and it's fine if it's not a money spinner. But of course I don't have access to the financials...

    OT: NFL Network Cutbacks

I'm a tail-end boomer but my media consumption habits have always been a bit different than my peers. I bought a first generation TiVo in the early/mid 90s and have had one ever since. Why? Because my time is valuable so I hate to sit through ads. I bought a first generation WiFi setup...

NFL works with college presidents to form “Super League”

Indeed. The whole narrative of college football has been 'we build young men' but as you say it also funds programs that benefit young women too. Now a bunch of Park Street dandies see a way for them to monopolize the sport and create windfall profits for themselves by focusing on the big...

    OT: NFL Network Cutbacks

It's hard to figure out. The best I can do is to say creating your own network was a big thing when they started, but by now it's well-known they'd like to be rid of it but can't/won't admit failure. Refer back to January when we had...

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

Think about it: there's gotta be a good reason why BUF are willing to take a $30M cap hit and lose his services along with two late-round picks just for a 2nd next year.

    OT: NFL Network Cutbacks

Melissa Stark, Andrew Siciliano, James Palmer, and Will Selva are out at NFLN.... https://theathletic.com/5390846/2024/04/04/nfl-network-hosts-out-changes/ NFLN is a mess. The NFL is making record profits but dumps talent left and right. They closed Good Morning Football in NYC to reduce...

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

While carrying a big cap number ($23M) for 35 year old Von Miller. Apparently they're going to keep him because they reworked his contract before the start of the League Year. That's what happens when you convince yourself you're one player away and push in all the chips. It's like the one...

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

Let's talk about it after this season. If they hit on #2, no one will be talking about the Sam Howell Era any more. Sadly if we hit on #3 people here will still be talking about 2018, Tom vs Bill, our miserly and horny old owner, etc.

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

They won another Off-Season Championship! Mike Lombardi refers to them as the New York Ifs. They'll be good if Ahole Rodgers can stay healthy. They'll be good if Ahole goes out and if Tyrod can stay healthy and elevate his game. They'll be good if Tyron Smith can stay healthy and...

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

Having great weapons doesn't help if you have a crap OL. Adding an older/slower Diggs is just the wrong kind of move for this team right now, IMO. I agree we just haven't hit on offensive skill positions, but IMO the need is QB and OL first then the weapons later.

    Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

I don't think it's one retool year for them. They really don't have a lot of team depth, and now after clearing out the WRs they have to hit on some new weapons too. Of course having a top-10 QB is a huge advantage and they have been pretty good at drafting, but they will have two years of...
