I read this in SI back in August. When the offense comes to the line, the QB points out the Mike linebacker, right? In Brady's case, that's wrong. Here's what's actually happening:
I asked Bears coach Matt Nagy the other day where Mitch Trubisky might take his biggest step in 2019. And found...
"Think we've put this, ahem, behind us? Think again. On its fifth anniversary, we proudly present the definitive oral history of the best worst play in football."
Long Live the Butt Fumble
Oh, brother, a tale told well. It's been posted in the infinitely long Jets Suck thread, but desires its...
Sonny Jurgensen!
Thanks for the thread! It helped me make a connection. I was "just a fan" of the Patriots until Parcells came to town and started talking about what it takes to be a champion -- I learned a lot listening to that guy and that turned me into a "serious fan." But when Belichick...
I love that you laid this out. When I'm stuck in traffic or raking leaves, my mind wanders to trying to figure out this same succession puzzle.
JG is 25 now and will turn 30 in November 2021. He's started two games. He needs to get paid and he needs to be starting somewhere soon. I would think...
Pressure up the middle has been the Kryptonite (Giants, Broncos, Texans) but that's not Atlanta's strength. And they're not going to sit back in zone after what happened last week with the Steelers. Therefore, the article offers some of the other possibilities. Take with a grain of salt.
Thought you might enjoy this article about Atlanta's schemes defending the Patriots:

Ken, don't change a thing. Your posts are long because you're developing meaningful ideas. Your posts are not verbose or rants. We are blessed to have your contributions!
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Taylor. He had a fantastic preseason. Sharp passing, good decisions, and effortless mobility. Knowledgeable Buffalo friends are very excited about his potential.
Won't the NFL's appeal involve discovery? Are those investigation documents going to see the light of day? If that happens, how much more hanky-panky and manipulation of evidence do you suppose is yet to come out? That's what Tedy's hoping for!!
We're all sick of this, but it seems to me the...
This is not true. Berman did not rule on this issue or two other Brady/NFLPA claims (see page 39 of decision). He kept it narrow and legal on three points: 1) notice; 2) Pash; 3) denial of access to investigation documents.
I have not heard this simple, short, fact-based argument before! This is the smoking gun in reverse! People are constantly asking me why I believe Brady and the several arguments I use, which convince me, don't convince them. But I love your explanation!!! It goes right to how the whole frigging...
Wilfork#75 has made a VERY wise comment. I think you have it exactly right. The NFL brief to Berman says, basically, that Goodell can do any dang thing he wants, given the CBA and past arbitration rulings. Kessler and the NFLPA, on the other hand, are attempting to build a very tight box...
Busy week so forgive me for not reading the Wells report for the answer. Just read about 10 posts/articles about the ball pressure data. One critical questions goes unanswered.
Ideal Gas Law calculations are based on the assumption that the volume inside a football is the SAME when temperature...
Just read Mike's summaries of each of the draft picks -- concise, informative, relevant, and not an ounce of hype, snark, or undue homerism anywhere. We are so lucky to have this hard-working guy constantly feeding us the product of his tedious homework: game breakdowns, contract and salary cap...
Here's the main reason as I see it: The Pats were willing to torment the 'Hawks with the (very) short yardage game. Mike Reiss had the stats this morning: "Did you know, Part 1: Tom Brady was 28-of-32 for 194 yards and two touchdowns on passes thrown within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage in...
I didn't get to watch the game, so I was curious beyond the score how the teams compared (Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Jets - Box Score - September 13, 2010 - ESPN)
Total plays: Bal: 75 vs NYJ: 44
Time of Poss: 38.5 vs 21.5
Yds per rush: 1.4 vs 5.5
Here are the two that King Rex must be...
Love this thread. The evolving defensive scheme is the story of this Pats season thus far. Fun stuff.
I do think there's a shift in BB's overall defensive philosophy in response to the rise of high-powered passing attacks. No one has really run on the Pats in years, but increasingly, good...
