Shaugnessy: Patriots aren't going anywhere near the Super Bowl

Not sure what the big deal is about CHB. He just writes the stuff the rest of us worry about. OK, sometimes with a little edge, but nevertheless. Anyway, all his column says today is that the Patriots are flawed especially on defense where they set a record for most yards allowed. Which...

Adjustment time for the D. The O finally did enough to give them a chance.

Maybe the defense can make a couple adjustments with some time to do it.

    BOLD Predictions (Pats v Bills)

    Now, c'mon. It's BOLD predictions, not ridiculous...:D

This season has taught me that drafting BPA is the way to go

I have no doubt that I'm going to sound like I've been drinking the cool-aid all day, but BPA or player of need aren't the only options. A few folks have touched on it, but the crux of Belichick's drafting philosophy is what has become a cliche: Do what's best for the team. There are a...

    For you Gostkowski haters

This is a little bit of cherry picking, too. It assumes that the main reason for Belichick's decision is mistrust of Gostkowski, rather than a different assessment of the game situation from yours. For example, Belichick may have thought that a field goal wasn't enough even if made.

The Myth of the Great Pittsburgh Fan

I lived in Pittsburgh for a few years and I can attest. They're into football at all levels. And they're loyal to a fault. They're also parochial dumbasses who think that if it isn't Pittsburgh, it isn't good. Which is the fault part of the equation.

    Once again...the D played well..great W

Great win - credit the D. Definitely good to see the defense carry the team. Nice drive at the end by Brady to pull out of the hole of his own making. It has been a while since we saw one of those last mionute drives, too. This was a big win because of the way they did it.

    Assessing BB's drafting

Right. So how do the Patriots compare to other teams? Maybe you agree with footballoutsiders?
  16. R

    Assessing BB's drafting

What is your objective measure of talent? Can you compare your measure to other teams' talent selection?
  17. R

    Assessing BB's drafting

Absolutely. The results on the field is the only thing that matters. I keep reading how terrible the Patriots drafts are. I have to conclude that this means they are below average. (Duh, right?) So would one of you folks that thinks they are terrible name 16 teams that have gotten better...

Announced Patriots cuts: countdown to 53

Let me put it another way. The teams that are expected to do well in the draft are the ones that draft first. The Patriots seldom do.

Announced Patriots cuts: countdown to 53

Too stupid for words. The teams that are below average in the draft have records that are below average over many years.
