Yeah, I was talking up Parham quite a lot too. That time sucks. It's slower than some DTs. I know he's got perfect size and great intangibles. But that speed just ain't gonna cut it.
I agree on Kudla. Other than him, a conversion project that interests me is Mark Anderson from Alabama.
As Belichick fan said, it's a pretty nice draft class. But no really so much for the WRs. I haven't really looked forward toward the '07 WR but I'm hoping the depth of this draft had something to do with his decision. He could come out this year and be guaranteed to be the first or second WR off...
Technically speaking we "could". But if we did I'd want Pioli and BB's head examined. Brooks can't stay healthy and has major off-field issues. I might not mind a 6th or 7th round flyer if the kid's interview was out of sight, but some other team will probably spend an earlier pick on him.
Rene, what can you tell me about LB Rocky Mcintosh? He looked decent in the 1 or 2 Miami games I saw this year, but I didn't see as much of him as I would have liked.
A couple sleepers I like:
RT Mark Levoir & OG Dan Stevenson, both from Notre Dame-Notre Dame had an exceptional O-line this year & they're Charlie's guys. I bet they're already somewhat familiar with our offensive line system.
DT/DE Pat Massey, TE Tim Massaquoi & ILB Dave Harris, all from...
It's a great year for that position. Besides Bobby Carpenter, a guy I really like is Kai Parham from Virginia. He's played both inside and outside LB in a 3-4, is perfectly sized (6'3", 253#), he finished his degree in 3 years (so he's intelligent), very good hitter, and his college page says...
At the Hula Bowl he was getting behind CBs all day. In college he also did that plenty. Like Scott99 said, I really doubt he runs anywhere near a 4.72/40. Draft sites this time of year don't know what his 40 time is. They're just guessing, like everyone else. I'm eagerly awaiting some combine or...
My list (I'm just going by guys I saw);
RB: Joseph Addai, LSU...Taurean Henderson, Texas Tech (but only in K. Faulk's role)
WR: Santonio Holmes, Ohio St...Mike Hass, Oregon St...Maurice Stovall, Notre Dame...Willie Reid, Florida St...Skyler Green, LSU...Sinorice Moss, Miami...Brandon...
All things being equal I would say WR. Givens is a free agent, B. Johnson hasn't done well, Troy Brown may retire, Dwight is a free agent and mostly a STer anyways, and Andre Davis is nothing special.
However, all things aren't equal. IMO, this year's WR draft class sucks. So I voted for...
For taller possession guys , in addition to Hass I also like Maurice Stovall, Notre Dame (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?id=9181) and Brandon Marshall, Central Florida (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?id=9961).
That would be my guess. It might make sense for us to take him in the late 1st, or at least trade back a few spots into the early 2nd, then take him. It may be too risky and too expensive to trade up from our late 2nd rounder.
Carpenter is one of my favorite guys in this draft class.
DE/OLB? Bobby Carpenter, Ohio St of course. He's an outstanding OLB, has great size (6'3", 255#), has intangibles out the wazzou and occasionally lines up in a 3-pt stance to terrorize QBs just like Big Willie.
