I agree. It's kind of sad but part of nfl reality that the fringe players are always fighting for the roster spot and it's never secure because there are always "better" players coming out of college to challenge them.
The Patriots are known to reach for players and only care about their board.
I believe the Patriots are pleased with the OLB they already have. I don't think they are going after any in this draft, probably just get a few as UDFAs.
Jamon Meredith is the 7th best OT on the board, and OT's...
Here is my mock draft for the Patriots assuming they keep all picks(unlikely).
1. Jamon Meredith OT
2. William Moore SS (from Kansas)
2. Darius Butler CB (from San Diego)
2. Shawn Nelson TE
3. Johnny Knox WR
3. Jason Williams ILB (Compensatory)
4. Kevin Huber P
5. Will Johnson DE...
I get the feeling that the Patriots already have a deal in place for Cassel. I think the Patriots are just reassuring Wilfork that a deal will be done soon.
Re: Reiss: BRADY HIMSELF expects to be ready to play.
Brady said. "He’s a great person, a great player, I’m lucky to have him as a teammate and I wish we could play together for our entire careers.
That's Brady's hint that Cassel is going to be traded. :(
Yeah, I agree. Kevin Faulk should stay until he wants to retire, we won't have a good reliable third down back anytime soon that contributes as much as Faulk anyway.
Re: Izzo connected to steriods/Bonds according to court documents [Update: Will testi
Rodney never admitted to steroids, only HGH. It's not the same thing.
Hehe. I agree, Cassel needs to be traded no matter what! Although sometimes I think it's sad for Cassel that no matter how much he improves or shows, the Patriots organization will not choose him over Brady. He probably is content knowing the fans have seen his value and even discussed...
:pAgree that SF is out of the Cassel sweepstakes. Although I believe the thinking that you don't need a 1st rate quarterback is not the right attitude. It will come to bite them sooner or later if their thinking that way!
The Patriots did the right thing by franchising Cassel. I think if the Patriots couldn't get a 1st round pick, they would be happy with 2 mid round picks with a future pick thrown in there.
