(Merged x3) It's All Happening!!! PFT Now Blames The NFL For Tarnishing The PATS Image

I agree, we have heard nothing from Indy. But that ball they intercepted was tested at least twice as many times as the Patriots balls, and that's if Indy had tested it only once. I am guessing they did a couple of times to confirm their suspicions before turning the ball over. So the Indy...

(Merged x3) It's All Happening!!! PFT Now Blames The NFL For Tarnishing The PATS Image

One explanation that the Colts ball would be lower is because every time you test the pressure (i.e., stick a gauge into it), it loses a little pressure. How many times did the Colts test it before handing it over to the officials? I bet you more than once.

    Mike Reiss seems pissed off

I'm trying not getting PO'd, just relieved it appears we didn't cheat. The first day or two, I didn't know what to think. I think hiring Renaissance is good - it means that there is no obvious evidence of cheating (in other words, if there was video of the ball boy deflating balls under the...

    Mike Reiss seems pissed off

The NFL official statement confirmed they were underinflated, and I am not saying that to say I believe they were underinflated, I am saying that to mean that it certainly was a newsworthy fact and not conjecture, opinion, etc. And I am not saying the league should defend the Pats, I am saying...

    Mike Reiss seems pissed off

Well, it's been confirmed that the balls were underinflated, and that certainly is newsworthy. And while the Patriots have not been exonerated by the league, neither have they been formally accused of anything, either. And, to me, that is one of the problems. They are being left twisting in...

    Mike Reiss seems pissed off

I think this whole thing points out the fact that most of these sports writers are not real journalists, but would-be columnists and editorialists. A reporter's personal opinion does not belong in a proper news story. Also, fact checking is very important to real news stories. Two big facts...

    Next up?? EggOnFaceGate

Yeah, this has more to do with spygate than underinflated balls. It would be interesting if there were random spot checks done at various points in the game for all the games everywhere played. I bet the numbers would be all over the place. The fact is, no one has ever thought to do it. But...

The Official Belichick Post Press Conference Thread

I felt good after watching Belichick's press conference today. I believe him, and am relieved we're not cheaters. Who gives a crap about what anyone else thinks. And I think this will focus the team. I wonder when and what the NFL conclusion is going to be.

Physics department chair at BC: weather alone could easily deflate ball from 12.5 to 10.5 psi

How about a theory where no one really is to blame - the Patriots equipment room was next to the boiler room or something. I have to think, after hearing Brady's and Belichick's unequivocal denials, that something funny happened that may not be intentionally human caused.

    Deflate-Gate: Here We Go Again

Why would the league run a sting. If they knew beforehand, why didn't they just call the Pats and say we hear you may be playing with underinflated balls and if you are, you better stop? Who wants to bust people? It's just about ensuring the rules are enforced. A sting just creates a big scandal.

    Deflate-Gate: Here We Go Again

I agree. I just can't see Belichick and Brady flat out lying in the face of millions and millions of people. I was soothed somewhat after watching their interviews. But I'm left wondering, what the hell happened?

What's up with that 4th quarter 1st down?

What happened with that 4th quarter 1st down that looked an inch or so short? I know Rex Ryan threw a challenge flag on the play, but the review only looked at the spot, not that the stick went an inch past the ball! I saw an oblique reference to it in an article today, but no explanation of...

What was learned from the Browns loss

I think it definitely was a turning point. Before the Browns game, they reminded me of the 2001 overachievers. And the Brown's game, the 2007 dominant force. And they're getting better, scarily enough. Just keep your fingers crosses about McCourty.

What was learned from the Browns loss

You wonder what would have happened in 2007 if we had a game like that. I also wonder, considering the last possession of the Patriots in the 2007 Super Bowl (1st sack, 2nd incompletion to Moss, 3rd incompletion to Moss, 4th incompletion to Moss, game over), when all we needed was a field...

    Tom Brady or Joe Montana

I have a friend last night who called Brady "bionic." I like to describe him as surgical. He just carves it up, cool as a cucumber. I saw Montana, too, and of course the guy was great (at the time I was not a 49's fan). Who is better? I really would have to reserve my judgment until Brady's...

We Haven't Won The Division Yet

I think the Pats go 4-0 or maybe 3-1. Brady is on fire and everything is clicking. My only concern is kickoff coverage, which seems to have dropped some with Graham. Othet than that, this team continues to improve and gain confidence. I think the Browns game is the only trap game for them...

Pats vs Jets very early thoughts

To me, this team feels a lot like the 2001 team. Brady dinking and dunking. When he does that, not only does he move the ball, control clock, etc., but also fires everyone up. Leadership and teamwork. I think the entire team is a lot more confident now than it was at the start of the season...

    Stopping Jets offense

Sanchez ... He decided to stop sucking in time to play us. Now that there's film of him out there, I'm not worried. I agree. I think this will be a different game than last time. A consistency going through this season with the string of Pats wins, I think, has been coaching and game...
