Howe: Pats not close to trading Gilmore

Did you not actually read the articles that were posted, written by football analysts, where it explicitly stated they were playing zone? You realize it’s possible to play physical zone coverage, right? Which is what they were doing. Zone isn’t necessarily passive, just like man isn’t...

Successful BB Midseason Offensive Player Acquisitions?

What about Josh Gordon? Acquired after week 2 in 2018. He started off decently until his issues struck again.

Successful BB Midseason Offensive Player Acquisitions?

I think you mean Brian Waters and not Solder, and he would far and away be the biggest success. As you note, prior to week 1, but without any training camp practices here.

Sanu? (ducks and runs from thread….)

Game Day Thread Official Pregame Thread- Pats @ Jets

No, 2026. 5th year option won’t be $50m. It’ll be higher than what he’s being paid now, no doubt, but not top QB salary. 5th year option for 2022 QB salaries is 18.858M, it’ll increase for 2025 of course but not to 30-50m. And most likely that would be the point where the team would work out...

Not until 2026 with the 5th year option. :)

Great point - thank you, I didn’t even think of looking at 2023 despite looking at 2022. And you’re correct, they are in great shape there. If Judon and Agholor keep up their fast starts, those are two obvious candidates for extensions / restructuring that could open up $15m+ in additional...

Game Day Thread Official Pregame Thread- Pats @ Jets

Missing the first 2 practices, generally not a good sign for either of them playing Sunday. Funny, I thought if anyone would have gotten a throat injury from Sunday it would have been Harris or Rham when they choked the ball away, not Van Noy.

Do they, though? Overthecap estimates our 2022 cap space at $20.5m when taking into account the top 51 rule. That’s 18th out of 32 so middle of the pack. But the rankings don’t take into account the specific circumstances for each team: The Patriots have a lot of upcoming free agents...

Throat injury? Also note Hightower isn’t listed.

There goes any hopes of getting the penalties under control this week….

    OT: RIP Norm MacDonald

Over the last year we’ve lost Alex, Sean Connery, and Turd Furgeson. :(

    OT: RIP Norm MacDonald

Ugh, just terrible. :( One of my all time favorite interview bombers.

    Mac or Zach?

Maybe Zach will overcome tremendous odds and wind up being a good QB for the Jete. Maybe he’ll wind up being better than Mac. But this will never not be funny.

Can anyone explain these veteran PS rules? (Folk, Hoyer, Nordin situation)

Right, he has, but they haven’t replaced him yet so the roster stands at 52. So I was surprised they just didn’t choose to keep one of Hoyer or Folk on the roster at this point rather than reverting to the practice squad.

Can anyone explain these veteran PS rules? (Folk, Hoyer, Nordin situation)

Or, most likely, someone will get hurt enough to warrant short term IR and that will be the spot taken. Surprised they didn’t do it already with Perry’s injury.

How Mac Jones Looked in His First Start Compared With Tom Brady

Doing the stat comparison is silly given how the Polian rules and the other changes this last decade have completely changed the game. Most people are making their Mac Jones evaluations based on the eye test. It therefore makes sense to make the Brady analysis on that basis too. Have at it...

Game Day Thread Official Post-Game Thread: Week 1 - Pats lose to Dolphins 17-16

JC Jackson shouldn’t be saying things like this in public after a loss, but he really isn’t wrong: J.C. Jackson didn't seem impressed with Tua Tagovailoa in Patriots' loss
