D-backs: What about Tebucky?

Any thoughts as to putting him at safety and moving Geno to CB? Or does he still tackle his own teammates?

let Geno play Safety..hes comfortable there with a veteran

He is inconsistent as he is hard hitting.

if nothing else he will be a special teams monster. He adds depth at Safety.

Wilson struggled in coverage last season at safety. I wouldn't want to see him trying to cover the other team's best WRs from the corner spot. FS is just fine for him.

What about OTIS damnit?? And why are people obsessed with moving Wilson "back" to corner? If ever there were a time to do that, it was last year, and the fact that it didn't happen, I would think, would slow the 'Geno to Corner' bandwagon.

TeBuck will be useful after every other DB goes on the IR. Which, after the last 2 seasons, would not suprise me.

Bucky-boy ain't the best in pure coverage, but he sure can lay the lumber. I still remember that hit in SB36. I also remember when Geno used to hit that way. Man, did he become a wuss last year when Rodney went down. Hope he gets his mojo back for Ought-Six.

He was bought in for a reason......ST for sure-insurance if one of the 5000 db's go down again.

Tebucky Jones is one of the best gunners in the league. It would take more than one defensive back to go down for Jones to get any playing time at safety. There will be six or seven active defensive backs in any game (3-4 corners and three safeties). In addtion, the special teamers: Guss Scott, Jones, and Mitchell.

BITE YOUR TONGUE. I actually think that swapping Samuel and Wilson would be a better move before letting Tebucky start again. My god, how quickly we forget 2002.

Wilson struggled because he was trying to do too much and didn't have a safety opposite whom he could rely on to do the job properly until Hawkins showed up. Also, it was clear that Wilson was over-whelmed in calling out the secondary adjustments and that the people opposite him didn't know their adjustments properly, again, until Hawkins showed up.

I think you are unfairly bashing Wilson based on the fact that the other safety position was poorly manned.

Barring multiple TC injuries, I can't see Tebucky making the team.

If it comes down to Bucky versus Gus Scott, I think Bucky makes it. On our current roster, he's behind (IMHO) Rodney (who may not be ready), Geno, and Sanders. I can't see Jones NOT making the team.

Don't think of him as "behind" a number of safeties, because he's probably also behind Hawkins, Ventrone, and Don Davis as far as safety play. He's not making this team as a safety.

He'll get a chance as a gunner, but it seems that everybody thinks that Tebucky of 2006 has the same motor and ferocity on cover teams as the Tebucky of 2001. I don't think he does. I think that Scott, TBC, Sanders, are better gunners. I don't know about Mel Mitchell. If it comes down to Tebucky vs. Scott, TBC, or Sanders, why not keep the guys who 1) will see the field in the defense first, and 2) have some upside?

I don't know why you guys are so down on Tebucky. He is a monster athlete who, while certainly lacking great football instincts and technique, was the starting free safety on our Super Bowl 36 winning team. We almost LOST Super Bowl 38 when we had to go to safety options #3 and #4 in the 4th quarter after both Wilson and Harrison were hurt. Do you really think we would have been worse off with Tebucky back there instead of Shawn Mayer or Chris Akins?

For everyone that wants to doubt that Bucky will make the team you are kidding yourselves. He knows the system and has performed in it quite well besides he's not coming here to be a starter. He's coming here to be a ST gunner/fumble forcer.

Yeah, thanks for the highlight clip from five seasons ago. That certainly proves your case.

I remember 2001, with Tebucky being a part-time safety. That was a long time ago. He'll be 32 this season. We've since signed Mel Mitchell, who appears to a better gunner, and he's younger, and he's cheaper.

This is simply a case of falling in love with ex-players of ours. Tebucky will be on his third team in three years. If he's still among the elite gunners in the league, do you think that would be the case?

Time will tell, but I'll put my money where my mouth is.

Seeing how eager BB was to trade Tebucky before the season, I'm going to say we would have been no worse off. Since when was coverage Tebucky's strong suit?

Again, welcome to 2006. Saban, who runs the same defense, didn't want Tebucky back in 2006.

I think you guys are way off the mark.
Absolutely he will be a big contributor on special teams.
Right now, I'd have him as the #3 safety, behind Wilson and Harrison.
Who else would be ahead of him? Maybe Hawkins, but that is putting a guy brought in off the street for half a season in the system ahead of a guy who played for BB 3 years, started, and only left because of $$.

BB doesnt bring back guys that he got rid of because he didnt want them at all.
Tebucky has a lot of skill. He is very fast for a safety. (He was the fastest player on the team when he was here) He has enough cover skills that Pete Carroll wanted him to be a corner, and he can hit.

I think Tebucky Jones will be a key to s/ts and a big contributor on D. Lets hope he learned to catch the ball while he was away. Ive never seen one guy drop as many Ints.
