From the Newsletter issued to the registered Patriots fan clubs:

Side note: the Orange County Patriots Fans were the 2nd club to be registered (toot toot!).

=========================================

A year ago, when Patriots.com's Fan Club Registry first appeared on Patriots.com, UKPatriots was the first club to sign up. That's right, this London based fan club beat all the fan clubs in the United States to the registration page. Of course, they weren't the first Patriots fan club to form. (Check out upcoming issues of the FCOR Newsletter to find out who that was.)

When UKPatriots formed in January of 2004, the club was nothing more than an online forum where Patriots fans in the UK could talk about their favorite American Football team, but since then this organization has blossomed into a full-blown fan club, with 13 members traveling "across the pond" in 2005 to see the Patriots play the Saints at home in Gillette Stadium. Last season, UKPatriots nearly doubled that number when 25 members of the club traveled to Foxboro to see the Pats take on the Bears. While they were in town, they also got to meet up with members of the team's end zone militia and former kicker John Smith.

"Our meet-ups in the UK tend to revolve around a single location, Bodean's BBQ in Central London (http://www.bodeansbbq.com)," said Chris Rice, club founder. "But due to the fact that our members come from all over the country, we tend to meet up only once or twice a year for big events. Smaller unofficial meet-ups are also organized through our online forums."

Check out MurphysPatriots.com!

Looking to improve your club's website? You may want to head to murphyspatriots.com, the home of the Murphy's Patriots fan club, which (fittingly) meets at Murphy's Pub in Alexandria, VA. This well-maintained site features frequent updates, including audio blogs similar to some of the audio features you can find at Patriots.com. During the season, hosts Doug "Dugan" Roberts and Scott McCandless break down the action in a weekly postgame show, which you can stream or download from the club's homepage.

"Our aim is to offer a voice for Patriots fans," said Roberts, the club's founder. "This July will mark the beginning of our third year of broadcasting our postgame show online. We feel very fortunate to have such a loyal audience of Patriots fans. In fact, the show now boasts a weekly audience of over 500 listeners worldwide, including countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. We produce every aspect of the show."

Thanks for the plug. We were pretty amazed that we were the first to sign up.

Good to see some publicity for my friends in DC. I'm hoping our paths will cross again in '07 - maybe in Baltimore.

The website for the UKPatriots has been destroyed by a hacker :(. Unfortunatley 4 and a half years of messages were lost.

A new site will hopefully be available in a few days, but in the meantime, UKPatriots members can register and use a temporary message forum at the following address ..

That is just AWFUL! My commiserations. Who would do a thing like that? Not even some evil feline living in Sarf London ...

The UK fans board is now back online with a brand new version. Unfortunately, we've lost all our history and post counts, but one surprising benefit has been the new board attracting a lot of new members, some introduced via this forum.

So we've has a good clear-out and the post-count race has started again in earnest :p
