Wonder who he sees possibly taking the division...

I believe he said the dolphins......then....he took a big draw off of his crack pipe......

Has it ever occurred to anyone that not EVERYONE in the national media needs to ballwash the Patriots? He picked them to go 9-7 or 10-6, what's the big deal? Try to take off the the homer glasses and realize it is OK for someone to think that they won't do well. Anything can happen on any given Sunday and we know that. I just don't understand why everyone gripes because ONE guy does not think they'll go 16-0 again. He picked us to be mediocre, so who cares? Get over it. Do I agree with him? No. But not everyone sympathizes with the Pats.

Umm...because basically with our schedule this year....NO ONE else seems to see this team losing 6 or 7 games......with this years schedule....I love realism,.....and everyone has a right to their opinion......unless it is laughably "unrealistic/idealistic" as this one is......the guy is a pats hater that is PRAYING that this is what will happen.........pathetic

It has absolutely nothing to do with sympathizing with the Pats, empathizing with the Pats or ballwashing the Pats. It has to do with common sense. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that the Patriots are not going to lose seven games unless their plane crashes. This is the same guy who advocated other teams intentionally injuring TB last year because the Patriots were running up the score. Face it - he's a hater. You need to take the hater glasses off and recognize he's one of your own.

I never had a problem with Aqua...

I know a lot of people here didn't like him though, I never saw him making any trolling posts.

Aren't you the one that had this in your sig?

I always thought it was hilarious.

That's not ballwashing the Pats it's just honest. This team was 16-0 last year and now they have an even softer schedule and will go 9-7? Where is the logic behind that? Just because I hate the Cowboys doesn't mean that saying "the Cowboys will be a .500 team next year" isn't a stupid statement. Are the Colts gonna be 9-7 next year? of course not.

There's no justification for the prediction, and the most logical one is that he hates the Pats.

good post .....said it better than me......I am one of the most REALISTIC people on here....have no problem finding faults with this team, or areas that need improvement,......if this team loses 3 games next year.....I will be surprised....but I could see that at the most........look at the schedule Michael.......We are basically the SAME team as last year....but better in many areas........Wilbon is just trying to be controversial I guess to get ratings........

At least Bob Ryan was the fill-in host for the show and said we have a 13-3 kind of schedule and will be the most motivated football team to ever play the game.

Recorded Wilbon's comments so everyone can leave them on his voicemail all throughout next season.

Here are Wilbon's NFL research assistants. This may explain his predictions.

First, Hef's roomate, TV's Girl Next Door Kendra

Next is adult fim star Carly Parker. She wers glasses, which means she must be the smart one that did all the heavy research for Wilbon.

I guess if Wilbone can keep these two happy while reporting on the NBA finals and coming up with NFL predictions, perhaps he should be congratulated rather than despised.

Didn't Wilbon personalize it...said what HE would do about going after Brady's knees?? I THINK THAT was more what he said....

you were lucky. apparently a lot of people do have a problem with aqua including the mods. that's why hes been banned four times under four different names.

Sounds like Wilbon is just trying to light a fire in the darkest part of the offseason. Afterall, the guy is part of the media and makes his paycheck based on other people watching or listening to him. My guess is his real opinion off camera/microphone is different.

Homer glasses or not, many of us complain about the media, because we can't believe they get paid to publish garbage......commentary without research.

The sad thing about the media (esp. ESPN) these days is that they see it as their job to publish inflammatory garbage though in order to provoke a reaction and get people talking about it.

Fact is, there's a whole thread dedicated to his prediction - whether it's ill founded or not, Wilbon has done his job.

I mean, come on... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

To think this team will do no better than the 2005 rebuilding year where the team lots 2 of the best assistant coaches, lost bruschi for half a year and suffered countless other injuries, is totally laughable.

Who really cares? Preseason predictions are like butts. Everyone has one and they usually all stink.

Umm, good kneejerk reaction. People here say the Pats will win the division so they must be homers. People who HATE the Pats think they will win the division, fool. It isn't about homer glasses. It is about common sense and football knowledge.

He could have said the same thing about the Colts. Yes, it is possible that the Colts will go 9-7 and miss the playoffs, but I think anyone who predicts that is nuts. So that makes me a Colts homer? I don't think so.

No, one doesn't need to be a homer to realize that you and Wilbon are simply ignorant. Though Wildon does play devil's advocate sometimes so I'm inclined to give him a pass.

Predicting the Pats will win the division is not ball-washing. Or the Colts. Sorry.

Nope. He said, and basically repeated it the next day (i thoukght he would offer a retraction), that the way to stop Brady is to hit him hard and illegally. Sure you get a penalty, but taking him out of the game is the only way you can win.
