When will SI stop saying we're concerned about Bills?

ya got me there....that one slipped by when the 7mo started screamin her head off into the baby monitor :(

no worries man, ive been there.

look, i think the bills D will be a challenge with off season acquisition of stroud, return of mlb pozlowksy and multiple drafts in the secondary. this D is reasonably solid:

DE:Schobel,Kelsey,Ellis,Denney
DT: Stroud, McCargo, Johnson, Williams
OLB: Mitchell, Ellison, Bowen
MLB: Posluszny, DiGiorgio
OLB: Crowell
CB: McKelvin, McGee, Greer, James, Corner, Youboty
FS: Simpson, Wilson
SS: Whitner

but their offense will still go no where. drafting one rookie WR even if he's tall won't amount to much, if anything. even if the D is good this team is still prone to getting blown out because the offense won't be able to stay on the field.

in a nutshell, bills at best will be a poor man's chicago bears. which puts them light years from challenging us.

When will SI stop saying we're concerned about Bills?

When they move to Toronto! :D

every year we have to hear some nonsense about how the bills are the "team to watch" that they've "flown under the radar screen" that they will "challenge for a playoff spot" and that the "pats are concerned." you kidding me? the day we focus our main attention on those losers is the day our dynasty is officially over. and folks, it's far from over ....
The Bills rank higher on the Pats hypothetical "concerned list" than the Jets or Miami right now, so the SI statement is a fair one. Your "dynasty" is on the downswing. It was a great run, but all good things must come to an end. We are a team to watch, and you should be thankful Belichick is running the team and not you, because BB wouldn't be so self assured in regards to Buffalo.
Buffalo deserves the Pats attention, as does any team they are gaurenteed to face twice a season. The minute they start dismissing even the horrible teams is when the dynasty is truely over because attention to that kind of attention to detail is what makes the Pats so great to begin with.

Look at this objectively - the Bills had pretty much all of their impact players either on IR or injured in some way shape or form last season and still played some hard games (even though the pats blew them out twice). If they get their chit together and stay healthy then they could actually be a threat to the Pats...not necessarily for the division, but still a threat.
Very true, good post.

werent they like 31 in offense and 30 in defense last year? you call that progress over the last 2 years? LOL . come on man, you don't change that overnight.
The Bills aren't going to go from worst to first overnight, but in 2009, the AFC East is ours.

Edwards is fine as a No. 2-3 QB. He doesn't throw the deep or intermediate routes well. He lacks arm strength. He's a stop gap QB, not a franchise QB and that's all he'll ever be.
Edwards has a better arm than you give him credit for. He has a super fast release, and his arm strength is comparable to Brady's. He doesn't have the bazooka arm Losman does, but few do. Edwards can make all the throws, and believe me when I tell you he is a franchise QB. Remember, last year he was a rookie and he only played half the season. Calling him a stop-gap after 8 games is premature.

How many points did the Pats hang on the Bills in that game?

Keep holding on to the past, oldskool138... because soon the only thing you'll have left to hold on to are the memories of a dynasty that used to be great.

Out of all the teams in our division, I actually dislike the Bills the least. Maybe it's because they've always been so pathetic that I felt bad for them. That said, this year is not their year to take over the division. It won't be their turn until Brady retires. But, I think Trent Edwards will improve, their receiving corps is good, they have a damn good RB, and their defense is always tough. I think the Bills will contend for a playoff spot this year...

Then get blown out by the Pats 56-10 in the Divisional round.

LMAO. Our dynasty has "been on the downswing" for four years now. Yet, we're in the mix of things every year and Buffalo is not. The Bills may be the up and comer of the division, but they're not wrestling it out of our grasp until Brady retires (which, unfortunately for you guys, will not be in 2009).

How many Super Bowls have the Bills won?

Oh yeah, none! Come back when your team picks one up...in the meantime, you can hold on to the "success" of the early 90's.

How does going 18-1 and making it to the Super Bowl (albeit it a loss), keeping damn near everyone from a record setting offense while re-stocking a defense that was the biggest weakness of last year's team equate to a "downswing"?

The Bills are on the rise, but it's pretty tough to challenge a team for the division title when you can't even lose to said team by less than thirty.

That Pats will always be good as long as they have Brady, but I still think the division is ours in 2009.

Who is talking about the past? Let's look to the future... the Bills are in much better shape for the future than the Patriots. We are one of the youngest teams, you are one of the oldest. The Pats have lost a lot of key players this year, the Bills haven't lost anyone, and they keep gaining.

Do you know nothing? Every year, the Pats lose key players. Every year, so and so is a huge loss that the team cannot overcome. Then, every year we are still in the mix of things and fans of divisional rivals such as yourself always scratch their heads and come up with the next excuse.

Young does not equal good.
Past performance is not indicative of future results.

That is a true statement. I just wonder how long you can keep losing players before it starts to catch up with you... it's foolish to think it can go on forever.

Okay but what else are you going to base future performance on?

The Bills have a decent team but IMO need to get rid of JP and get a better QB.

It caught up with us in 2005, then we caught up with the rest of the league before having the misfortune playing a team that, honestly, had our number in the divisional round. Do you honestly think the Steelers would have been in the SB if the Pats had not played the Broncos?

They are done with JP... he is no more than a backup. Edwards shows a lot of promise, and if he can stay healthy he will be a solid starter. The addition of James Hardy in the second round can't hurt either. He is the big WR the Bills desperately needed. Hardy will make both Edwards and Lee Evans much more effective.

Another reason to look forward to the future: a different offense. New OC Turk Shonert is getting rid of the laughable hybrid TE/HB position that was a complete failure. Now Marshawn Lynch will be running behind a real FB, and more two back formations will certainly help the passing game.

SI will say anything to get Patriot Nation all riled up.

That's a good point. Probably not...

thats probably the most insightful response on this thread. on a day when walsh didn't say anything and no new bogus charges were brought against randy, they had to do something to provoke us

Haha...I don't believe you. Edwards isn't a franchise QB. Thanks for the chuckle, though.
