Think there's an ESPN-Pats fued?

ESPN isn't making the Patriots any money.

ESPN is making money off the Patriots' success.

One of the premier teams in the NFL limiting access to the network WILL, in fact, hurt them.

If it wouldn't, they probably wouldn't be actively complaining to the NFL about it.

OK lets check that right there! I am CALLING YOU OUT!

1. ESPN pays the NFL $1,000,000,000.

2. The NFL distributes the $$$$$$ between the 32 teams.

3. The patriots are a team in the NFL.

4. ESPN paid the patriots.

But then you lose some objectivity. It's hard to do stories that put your company in a bad light when you are paid by the company.
Objectivity? Is there one to begin with? Ask the Yankees and the Redsox how tough they have it wihtout that "objectivity".
ESPN is not going to stop covering the NFL as long as there is interest in it out there. Even if the NFL took away MNF from them. Even if they couldn't have TV reporters standing on the field before or after a game.

ESPN pays that money to televise games.

The Patriots aren't limiting ESPN's access to televising games. Therefore limiting access to certain reporters won't affect that revenue stream.

The Patriots are making money, period, by being an NFL team. They are not specifically making money from ESPN. And if they weren't getting that money from ESPN, they would be getting it from whichever company pays to televise the game.

On the flip side, the Patriots limiting access to ESPN reporters will inhibit their ability to break news about a premier NFL team, and in turn funneling advertising dollars towards other sports coverage agencies.

So basically, the ESPN can't do anything to the Patriots besides say bad things about them, while the Patriots have the ability to directly affect ESPNs revenue stream.

I hope ther is a fued. I hate espn, and I'm totally spoiling for a fight.
I would love nothing more than a complete shut-out of all espn personell.
They suck. I would'nt give espn the time of day.
Just think back to all the things said on that channel by al those clowns.
"Cheatriots", "Bellicheat" etc. Are those acceptable things to say on tv?
Espn is a bunch of hacks, and I hope they all choke on their dinner sometime soon.
They are dead to me. If I saw Emmit Smith walking down the street tomorrow, I just might take a swing at him.

The reason ESPN pays that kind of money for the games is because they can make more than that by charging sponsor. They are not paying that kind of money because they are charitable. NFL want to tap into that money itself without needing ESPN as a midle man. Thats why there is an expesive legal battle going on (with US senator involved) to get the NFL network in the basic cable package.

Thats also the reason why Spector is involved. His #2 campaign contributor is Comcast, and his #1 is Comcast's parent company... He doesn't care about cheating, he cares about pressuring the NFL with the Anti-trust Exemption so that they will Lower the cost they are demanding.

You really think they spent a billion dollars and will allow themselves to get stonewalled? Did you notice that last year the NFL passed a new policy rule that outlined the minimum required media exposure of NFL assistants. NFL coaches are REQUIRED to have pressers. They are required to have players available. ESPN put up the change and then lobbied for increased access...and they got it. The pats are already doing the minimum... they can't shut them out anymore then they already have.

what the hell are you talking about?

I'm explaining how ESPN paid a billion dollars to televise NFL games. And then the NFL took that money and distributed it to the Teams... Thus the pats got a good chunk of that cash. Meaning that ESPN pays the patriots.

That means ALL media. They can fulfill those requirements with reporters of their choosing. Do you work for ESPN or something? You seem absolutely batty about them.

I don't think you understand.

Press conferences are required. What is said at press conferences is not required.

Sending text messages to Peter King or John Clayton is also not required.

Lots of things that are "not required" are often "required" for news to be broken.

I asked a question before that you didn't answer. Is this your first season watching the NFL? Second? I can't imagine any a long-time football fan not understanding these very simple concepts.

Me... I have been a casual fan since 89' and a real fanatic since 2002.

Injury reports are also required... But we all know what Billy thinks of them.

wait let me guess why: Is that because Vegas pays ESPN who Pays the NFL who pays the Pats? Or is it the other way around? Your insight into the workings of the NFL is uncanny.

Trolling? How am i trolling? There were only like 3 posts that were even Fin related. And then i agreed to what the original poster said about an ESPN bias. I then outlined my reasons and have had a friendly conversation regarding my feelings on the subject. When some one called me a MORON did i fly off the handle? In fact i haven't said anything untruthful about the pats.

If this is trolling...PLEASE come over and do the same to some other boards.

Oh... and i hate Aqua forever... He is severly misguided.

Because your not really making any valid arguments, and you keep throwing in snide remarks about Belichick to provoke a reaction. And your Avatar rules.

Exactly.

Read your own posts in the thread, welker83, and tell me you don't sound like an idiot and a troll. I just call them as I see them, buddy.

Your fervent backpedaling of the moment isn't getting you any further than your senseless 'arguments' were.

Agreed. Well, the avatar is nice though.
