The Patriots have re-signed long snapper Lonie Paxton to a one-year deal, according to NFL.com.
The move was expected as Paxton had made it a priority to stay with the Patriots. He enters his eighth season in 2008 and is considered one of the league's top snappers.

Re: paxton: l year deal

Insert obligatory snow-angel comment

Re: paxton: l year deal

Bend and stretch, yawn, man I'm sleepy....................

Re: paxton: l year deal

At least our team will have 1 player next year.

Re: paxton: l year deal

This may be an under the radar deal, but Teams are huge in the NFL, and this is a good signing right there.

Re: paxton: l year deal

Long snappers are never a big deal until/unless they screw up. So I'm sure come camp time we will have the obligatory threads about how we should be teaching some good looking UDFA or 6th round LB to snap to better utilize the roster spot. :D

Re: paxton: l year deal

There are already a few LS on the team that could be OK...but Paxton may be the best in the league. Yes, they'll bring in another probably like they will with a kicker or punter..and that is what they ALWAYS do..so they will have at least 6 STers to do their own thing in camp..(I think they used Hochstein in camp at the start as a LS...or another lineman..as LS Case was cut before camp.) A good signing, but not one of the important ones.

No way Mo,I'm doing it now. Lonnie sucks. What the heck has he done lately? I'm so sick of this. BB just keeps bringing people back becuase he likes them, not because they have any skill left! Damn HIM!!!

Re: paxton: l year deal

why not a 5-year deal?

Re: paxton: l year deal

The Pats seem to be getting the easy re-signings out of the way first.

Bruschi, Izzo, Paxton, and Washington all wanted vey badly to return

to the Pats. Now, the Pats can concentrate their efforts on re-signing

Gaffney and Moss. No hurry on Mitchell, Seau, and Scott since they are

rehabing from injuries.
