I have to agree. I don't care to read Tomase now. I have lost interest in what he has to say.
This event reminded me of the political scene where you drop dirt-bombs right before an election. It doesn't even matter if the dirt is proven false later.
The other day I saw something about Obama's contributions being "Tied to Taliban money". Of course it's not going to be true, but the damage is done just by dropping the bomb. The writer has no reputation after that except as a company wad. So he'll continue to make a good living, but he has no soul, no sense of what is right or wrong, no way to determine truth from fiction, or even care.
It is such a shame that a promising young sportswriter
such as John Tomase
should imagine that the way to advance his career ... to get out of Dodge ...
was to piss all over the fans who used to buy his newspaper to read his stuff.
