Why are Chargers fans rooting for the Pats?

I don't get it-they cried and complained when the Pats celebrated in the middle of their field. They marked wk2 months in advance on their calender for revenge, then complained their butts off how they'll get their revenge in the playoffs when they got wacked that week. Then they got beat by you in the playoffs...

They're now all of a sudden Pats fans tomorrow?

Edit: With all the time and effort they put into trolling this MB...it appears wasted now.

Nobody wants to see a Manning holidng trophy...and of course they want Junior Seau to get a ring

They hate Eli after his draft day trade and "I'll never play for SD" more than they do us. Some of them.

As much as they dislike the Pats, they hate Eli. As you may recall, SD drafted him and then his dad threw a hissy fit and said he was going to got to law school instead of play football if they didn't trade him.

Yes...Mannings quest for jumping bandwagon...amazes me.

Plus, if you have to lose it's better to lose to the eventual champs. That way you can believe you are no worse than #3, and you can always claim you were really #2 since the NFC sucks.

i'm out here and they are hating this. they want manning to go down in the first quarter and the giants to win with their back up qb. they don't even know who it is(jared lorenzen). i had to tell them it was the hefty lefty from ky. they still didn't know who i was talking about. simply put, they are sports morons.it's really not their fault. they were driven to skateboarding and bike riding by their crappy teams. they are more into the x games(stoner olympics) than real sports. bunch of crackheads.

If the Pats had lost to the Chargers I would root for San Diego - they are the second best team in the NFL.

First of all...you're a friggin idiot. You could line up 10 solid nfl fans and 8 of them wouldn't know who Lorenzen is.

Secondly....bunch of crackheads? Do we have a crack problem in San Diego I wasn't aware of? I think you're confusing us with L.A. Since you're confused let me point out that L.A. is a completely different city, actually a couple hours away by car. Hopefully you can consult a map before commenting further.

Thirdly...I am the biggest Pats fan outside of New England...If that F***er Eli somehow weasels his sorry no talent ***** into a Super Bowl title I'll have to leave the planet.

I live in SoCal and I think that, while his description of San Diego is a bit extreme (I dunno about crackheads), you have to admit that the locals are far lessed interested and knowledgeable in sports.

In decreasing order of importance, I'd say:

1. Eli
2. If the team that beat mine is godly, then mine may have been pretty good too.
3. Familiarity w/ the AFC team.
4. 19-0 is kind of cool.

i agree. it's not a generalization, it's a characterization.

SD might also take some solace in the fact that they played the Pats tougher than anybody else in the playoffs. To lose to the eventual winner, and to lose in a sort of heroic way isn't the worst fate for a team.

Worse will be what happens to the Giants.
