Re: Super Bowl player arrested for driving drunk in Valley

It's a Giants player who's on IR, just so people don't read the thread title and panic.

Officials from the Arizona Department of Public Safety say Adrian Awasom was taken into custody sometime within the last 24 hours.

The 24-year-old defensive end was already on the injured reserve list and was not scheduled to play in the big game in Glendale.

The headline says "Super Bowl Player" and the content says he's on IR.

Hmph, maybe he's going to make his big comeback while on a bender.

Giants Player Adrian Awasom Arrested on Drunken-Driving Charge

By Aaron Kuriloff

Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- New York Giants defensive end Adrian Awasom was arrested on a charge of drunken driving less than three days before the National Football League team plays in the Super Bowl, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

Awasom played primarily for the Giants' special-teams unit in the first two games of the season, recording no tackles, before hurting his neck and spending the rest of the season on injured reserve.

Awasom's agent, J. Lawrence Temple, didn't immediately return a voice-mail message left at his office.

Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said in an e-mail that Awasom arrived in town yesterday and had been sent home by the team.

The Giants face the New England Patriots in the NFL title game on Feb. 3.
