Re: Super Bowl parking situation?

That's not racist. Some of my best friends are white parking lots.
I knew a white parking lot once. Seemed like a nice guy.

Re: Announcements & advice for those heading to AZ (Merged)

My father just told me about some WEEI block party in Scottsdale on Saturday. Anyone know the deal with that? Besides the fact that it will contain fat, smug, radio commentators?

I just checked it out on WEEI's website. $250 per person!!! F-that.

Re: Super Bowl parking situation?

I have an extra parking pass - West Blue lot....PM me if interested.

I would sell for what I paid.

If you like Irish Pubs be sure to hit up Rula Bula on Tempe's Mill Ave. Best Guiness and great atmosphere.

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

Bottom of the price list still sitting about the 2,400s.

Anyone observing any changes in the volume of listings? Hopefully not many tickets are moving at the current prices so sellers will be forced to drop prices. You would think that at this point NY and New England travelers would have bought by now and anyone still on the fence will find that airfare is now too high.

If anyone is looking for a cheap, basic hotel from Wednesday to Monday I may be able to help. You don't necessarily need to stay from Wednesday but you would be paying for it.

PM me for details

I think stubhub is a good place to watch the trends. It's overpriced as compared to ebay and other sources, particularly because it charges both the buyer and seller a premium. So it's not the best place to find out true price or market value. But you can sort of see what's happening to seats, and so it's a good way to watch trends.

I think part of the problem right now is that it's tough to tell how much inventory there really is. Many auctions and scalper sites are promising tickets, but don't have them in hand, so it could be the same tickets being bought and sold, etc.

You can find tickets all the way down to about $4400 per pair, depending on the risk you want to take. Auctions for upper corners from high-feedback sellers who actually have tickets in hand and post a picture for the auction, and have a plausible story for how they got the tickets, are still in the $5,000 to $5,100 range -- although every once in a while you see one pop for like $5,600 or something for no apparent reason. Seems arbitrary.

Western union or "you'll get your tickets on Saturday and I reserve the right to upgrade or not reveal your actual location" seem to be going for less.

What Are the Good Bars To Hang Out IN?

Will be in North Phoenix Saturday night (very close to the Glendale line)? What are the happening places to hang out on Saturday night? Also, how late are the bars open?

I'm so exited to be going to this game I can barely sleep! :rocker: :)

Re: What Are the Good Bars To Hang Out IN?

Go through the sticky thread about the Super Bowl and you may find one.

I'll merge this with that on in about 30 minutes if I'm still near the computer.

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

tickets ALWAYS drop at the last minute. simple fact... dont listen to the scalpers.

Re: What Are the Good Bars To Hang Out IN?

FYI...

ANOTHER EVENT at the Vine is in the works now.....

BIG PEP RALLY, INCLUDING BRAD DARR'S VOODOO CEREMONY, AS DONE BEFORE EVERY SUPER BOWL, WILL BE ON SATURDAY NIGHT, AT THE VINE, AT 9:00 PM.

Will have confirmation soon.

Re: Announcements & advice for those heading to AZ (Merged X 2)

I suspect that this site is tracking the Patriots to AZ

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

Was checking out that link for tickets and I must be misunderstanding something. I saw plenty of premium seats for prices at or near 10K per. I also saw a private suite for 18 people for 30K. Assuming you had the cash for a couple of premium seats, thats going to run you right around 20K.

Or you can get your own private suite for 18 people for 30K....

If you could get 18 people together that you know have about 1500 bucks each, you're watching the game in style?

What am I missing here

Way overly simplistic.

The super bowl is a very peculiar event. Scalpers have been selling inventory they don't actually have for 3 weeks, and will need to cover their positions soon. They have a variety of sources to do this, but starting on Wednesday, you will start to see a huge downturn in supply.

I don't disgree with the proposition that if on the day before the game you can pick off a mom and pop with two extras, you will probably be able to get it for less than you could right now.

But that's just not the way the super bowl works any more. You just don't see guys with fistfulls of tickets outside a super bowl. The tickets have all been bought and sold long before it gets to that point.

I saw all this first hand for the national championship game a couple of years ago, as I mentioned above. In the streets there were very few genuine tickets floating around, and literally thousands of people outside the stadium who all thought they were going to get a deal close to kickoff. 10 minutes into the game, tickets were literally being auctioned in the streets with people freaking out and running to the ATM, and tickets selling for much more than they could have been bought on ebay two days before.

At SB 36 this was true but try explaining it to the 10,000 people outside Reliant without a ticket for SB 38. Outside of Florida the state of Arizona must have the most transplanted New Englanders (and New Yorkers) in the country. The market bottomed in SB 38 on Saturday but by Sunday the scalpers were naming their price. The chances are if you don't secure a ticket by saturday you will be watching the game on TV. I'll probably pull the trigger by Wednesday at the latest. I have flown out without a ticket (once) and with a ticket twice. For me the anxiety of not knowing if you are getting into the game ruins the fun you should be having. Good hunting!

This is sort of what I was thinking too. Wednesday sounds right. Could you save a couple hundred more or get better seats by pushing it until Friday night or Saturday morning?

Maybe. It's all about one's risk tolerance, I suppose.

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

That's an easy one. "Damn, can't wait to get away from that b!tch for a couple days."

HAHAHAHOOOOOOO

True that.

Yup, one rule of thumb for me - I do not leave home without tickets in hand.

Too far to go, too much aggravation trying to score out of town like that. I don't trust anyone that may tell me they have them there for me to pick up when I get there, no way.

Also, be sure to check to make certain your tickets are not fakes....see below:

How To Spot Counterfeit Super Bowl Tickets

The demand for [Superbowl tickets]Super Bowl tickets[/URL] far outweighs the supply every year causing the price of Super Bowl tickets to soar into the thousands. To prevent unscrupulous people from taking advantage of innocent shoppers the NFL works hard to protect fans from counterfeit Super Bowl tickets or fake Super Bowl tickets.
2008 Super Bowl tickets include many counterfeit protection devices including a multi-dimensional hologram on the back, fibers and ink that flouresce under a black light and heat sensitive ink that disappears when rubbed.
