Media/Players Picking the Giants

Can we possibly have a STICKY that lists the various talking heads, and other players who are picking the GIANTS to win the Super Bowl?

Banks from ESPNEWS outright picked the Giants to win.
Cato June was on for an interview, and he did as well.
Dr. Z picked the Giants to win.
Jerry Rice on Sirius NFL Radio said the Patriots don't match up well with the Giants, and predicted the Giants win the game.

I think Dr Z has easily lost hisdamn mind. If you read the article he basically says that he is going with the Giants cause he didn't go with the Jets in Superbowl 3. What the hell kind of logic is that?
His "reasons" the Giants would win came across as hopefull thinking more than actual analysis.
I just don't get this whole Giant bandwagon. They BARELY beat the Packers, who puked all over themselves and played like they did last year. The Cowboys decided too stop running the ball with Barber, and kept throwing and throwing EVEN though the Giants were pressuring them and they only needed one score! And am I really supposed to be impressed with a win over Tampa freakin Bay?? COME ON!
I swear, I could understand the Pats getting no love in 01, even some going with Carolina in 03, and the Eagles were a great team, so I understood people picking them too. But this is an UNDEFEATED TEAM against a team that went 10-6!!
AND WTF is all this talk about "well they won 11 in a row on the road. but 18 in a row PERIOD DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING!??

I haven't watched or listened to one sports show since the Pats won the AFC Championship and I am a lot happier for it. You guys should try it. I am going to turn on the TV on Sunday, February 3 at 6:30pm and watch the Super Bowl. Everything else is nonsense.

Rice was on WFAN yesterday and sounded like a little b*tch. According to him his passing O in SF was the equal of the Pats. Maybe true but he's still a little b#tch.

On a somewhat off topic note. Mike Greenberg just went on a very passionate diatribe on how the Giants seem to be having the time of their lives and the Pats are just not enjoying themselves. Stating all the pressure in the world is on the Pats and their season will be a colossal failure if they don't win their last game.

It's one thing to voice that opinion which may have some value, but to rant on for 5 minutes on the topic to the point of appearing to draw quite a bit of pleasure from that idea was hard to listen to.

By the way, Carl Banks also does the Giants games on the radio with Bob Poppa. Not surprising he'd pick them. That would be like Gino picking the Giants.

You are likely deluding yourself. Listen to and watch everything and soak up the atmosphere surrounding this amazing time for the Patriots.

In fact, if I wanted to remove 90% of the "that guy is a %$&^^% idiot" moments I experience lately, the first place I'd boycott is here.

Greenie also went on for what seemed like 20 minutes today on Seinfield. Put in that context, what Greenie has to say really doesn't mean a lot IMHO.

To each his own alamo. My experience has been that most analysts and talking heads don't know the Pats well enough to provide well-reasoned and informed opinions of what might happen in the future. Too many of them will spend the next 10 days scaring the crap out of and/or frustrating both Pats and Giants fans.

For me, this dates back to Super Bowl XXXVI when "The Professor", John Clayton, said that the Rams would win the game by 4 or 5 touchdowns. And he is supposed to be a "football" guy.

Trust me guys... turn it off. You will thank me later.

This is the standard approach every Super Bowl for the Patriots.

They have NEVER enjoyed themselves or enjoyed just being there. They tend to hold off on the partying until afterward.

That's okay...I find sports pontificators funny. Sports journalists couldn't hack it in the real news world or on the sports field when they were in college and High School.

These are the same douche-bags who all picked the Rams in 2001...what happened to rooting for the underdog then?

You're trying to teach sanity to the inmates, doctor.

What's the problem with picking an underdog for the game? I don't know why we all have to get so riled up about it; the Giants are a good team and should play the Pats pretty competitively, as they did a few weeks ago.

I fully expect the Pats to win, of course, but I'm not going to get all outraged by hearing that people think differently than I do!

That's because the media "experts" are supposed to be objective (like last year. How many people picked the Bears to win? Not too many). If everybody says, "Well, my head says the Pats will win but my heart wants the Giants so I'm picking the Giants", how is that objective analysis?

There could be a Patriots player that might just take this talk as a sign of disrespect.
