Re: Who is going to the big game???

I am going with a group of 10 guys. Fly in Friday night (5 ish) and leave on Tuesday. We have hotel rooms near ASU in Tempe. Will be looking to hit nightlife in Tempe maybe on Friday night....Scottsdale on Saturday.....and still undecided on Sunday. Since we probably wont be going to the actual game, does anyone have any recommendations on good place to watch the game - perhaps with a Pats crowd.

We lucked out and booked flights ($200 RT) and hotels ($250/night) 2 months ago.

Re: Who is going to the big game???

Stick with that 3.5 hour thing on super sunday and you'll be happy to get there in the second quarter.

That drive sucks. Been there. Done that. Not 3.5 hours.

Plus, one issue on that road and you're toast for hours. Do yourself a favor and leave early on Sunday.

Agreed. It's a brutal drive especially if your by yourself. And its probably about 5 hours. The only neat thing is getting to drive across the hoover dam.

Re: Super Bowl Party Thread

WEEI Super Saturday Party

$200 and it doesn't include food or drink? For $40 there's another party in this same location that night. Is there any reason this one is worthwhile? Has anyone attended it in prior Super Bowls?

=============
Tickets are $200 before the party and $250 at the door. Cash or credit card will be accepted online and at the door. There will be a cash bar, and buffet style food will be available for a small charge. The party will be 21 years of age and older, no exceptions. The party will take place in Scottsdale and will be going on at three bars right next to each other on the same street. n entire city block will be shut down for the party. The party will be from 1am-5pm Arizona time. There will be a live broadcast from 11am-3pm and a live band from 3-5pm. There will be many celebrities on hand for the party and the broadcast. Celebrities are in the process of being confirmed.

Re: Who is going to the big game???

I hope I get to see some of you folks at the game! I will definitely be there. Right now I'm just freaking out about the room. Seems likely that I'll end up in Sedona. Las Vegas sounds cool, but that is alot of driving, especially after all of this transpacific criss-crossing (I am back in HK now and will head back to the US for the Super Bowl).

Over 30,000 air miles for Pats games!!!

Re: Super Bowl Party Thread

Here's the link to the evening Craftsman Court Party on Friday and Saturday night.
http://scottsdalesultimateblockparty.com/cl_party.html

It's actually only $30 with the code plus TM fees.

This is one of the lower priced events around town though there are a couple of free events going on.

Re: Who is going to the big game???

If anyones got an extra ticket, i will let you crash at my place in exchange!!:D I got NFL network and lots of scotch....:D haha seriously

Re: Who is going to the big game???

I am going to the game!! I am staying in Sedona as we couldn't get any rooms in Phoenix. Plenty of rooms still available there, it seems. It is supposed to be a 2 hr. drive - anyone know if this is true? One thing I learned from PatsfaninAZ in another thread is that you need a parking pass (purchased in advance) to park near the stadium; no private lots available. There is a host website that he gave me. I can look it up if anyone is interested. I was able to get a parking pass for $75 (yikes, I know), but apparently scalpers buy them and sell them for even higher. The Superbowl is very exciting and I wouldn't miss it, but it's hard to ignore the screw job on the cost of everything. Oh well, my one vice is spending lots of $$ on my Pats "habit."

there is a PATS fan club of PHX where they basically control this bar in Phoenix called THE VINE...but honestly, when I lived in AZ I watched a few regular season games there and it was PACKED....people there were great to talk w/ about NE sports but i cant imagine how ridiculous it will be on Sunday. For the most part I think you will be able to walk into any bar out there and see a ton of PATS fans...Im probably gonna check out the local paper called the NEW TIMES when I'm out there and see what bars give you the best happy hour...its has a complete listing of all the bars and their specials

2 hrs from sedona is pretty close, but again, give yourself ample amounts of time. One accident and it could be easily 3hrs +. If you have never been to sedona, it's beautiful but the locals seemed a little wierd to me, but that's just me.

Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

could those of you offer up some advice on buying super bowl tickets? I am curious to hear where people buy (ebay etc), when (well in advance, days in advance etc), and how much value one would place on the experience?

Every time the pats have made to the SB, i've considered going, but have never pulled the trigger....

thanks for the input guys!

Any info you can post on that parking pass would be most appreciated!!

I too may end up in Sedona.

Many of us old time posters are very familiar with that place!!!! I think I'll have to check it out.

Sb Xlii

If I can get my tax return back by the 3rd I'm going to try my damned hardest to get into the game. I dont think that'll happen though :(

Re: Who is going to the big game???

what do you do out of curiousity?

Television and satellite engineer... I set things up and fix them when they break.... they've got me farmed out and working for several different outlets all week. The weekend and Sunday should be light workloads for me... but I'll be working 14-16 hour days most of the week leading up to it.

Re: Who is going to the big game???

Heading down with my cousin. We also booked months ago & got real cheap airfare & reasonable accomodations. Will be staying in Tempe near ASU (America's Best Value). Coming in on Friday, going to the FBR Open on Saturday, the game on Sunday, then golf on Monday & Tuesday (Eagle Mountain & Greyhawk Talon). Definately interested in hooking up with fellow fans. GO PATS!!! :rocker:

Re: Who is going to the big game???

Sorry to disaapoint you, but Vegas to Glendale is at best 5 hours. I know, I drive it once a month for business. If you change your mind and want to stay near stadium, contact me at [email protected]. I know of a rental.

You know, Sedona and Prescott are good options. There are many nice hotels there and it's not a bad drive in normal driving conditions -- 1.5 to 2 hours to the stadium. It's almost all interstate -- much better than the Vegas drive. (The interstate, though, goes through some mountains and it's not a great drive in the dark.)

Another option is Tucson. I just checked online for the best hotel down there (other than the resorts) which is the University Marriott on the campus of the U of A. They have an AAA rate of about $300 per night. Steep, but it's a good hotel, and there is no minimum nightly stay. It's also about a 2 hour drive -- straight highway shot. Lots of great stuff right around the hotel, because you're right on campus. That's a serious option. Better than spending $200 a night for some crappy travel lodge in an unsafe neighborhood in Phoenix. I doubt those rooms will stick around long -- get them before Giants fans do.

I would expect traffic on game day in and out of Phoenix to be heavy, but those are really solid options that I hadn't thought about.

Deb -- on the parking, I hope I didn't steer you astray. When I posted that, scalpers were charging over $100 for parking passes on ebay, but the prices are going down. I think maybe it's getting out that passes are still available at face value through the host committee and scalpers and starting to panic. When all is said and done, people may be able to get parking for under face value. Still, better safe than sorry, I guess.
