Seems like a few changes and the league is ready to throw dirt on the grave. I have only one question. The last sustained dynasty (49ers, the Cowboys were a quick run and I hope the Pats last longer) had how many starters from thier '81 team on thier '89 team?

Answer: 3 Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, and Mike Wilson

The point being that the Krafts said that they wanted to mold thier franchise after that Niners team. IMO they are ahead of them so far in that they have have won 3 in 5 where SF took 7 years to win 3. '81, '84, '88. Then they back to backed '88 and '89. This doesn't even count the '94 team. If talk radio was as big as it is now I bet they would have killed this team in the down years. I actually remember the big flak the team took when they got rid of Roger Craig, it was the first time I had ever heard the "get rid of a guy a year too early than a year too late" motto used and they brought in a pretty good back by the name of Rickey Waters.

The 49ers won something like 12 straight division titles. What down time are you talking about? The team was successful for 17 years. That's not too bad in my book.

My bad, I looked at the 3-6 year and just looked at the 3 forgetting it was the strike year. Basically that's my point though they changed over the roster a few times and it never spelled doom.

The media doesn't get it, some fans don't even get it. We'll be back in '06, win 10-14 games, win the division, and be considered serious contenders next year, and for several years afterward.

The media tends to be star obsessed, which is why the Redskins got pimped for a few years when Snyder started throwing money away. This is a fascinating off season. I expect we will have a roster that will be ready to make a run to the SB next year.

I would love to catch a break on injuries this year.
