I am new here. An old ex-MArine. Been a PAtriots fan from the old days. Live and die with them. This is how I have digested this season so far. Some of you might agree with me. Some won't. But this is how I see it.

BEing an old jarhead, I see things in black and white. The only thing that matters in football is winning or losing. I know...an old worn out cliche. It really is that cut and dry.Everything else is BS. When the Spygate incident first surfaced . I really didn't know how to feel about it. Then I heard Bill PArcells, one of the few coaches I respect, when they asked for his opinion. He shrugged his shoulders and you could tell he felt it was all BS. And the team and Belichick were caught and fined by the league. Well, that was good enough for me. Move on. But some people couldn't let it go. Then the whole "running up the score" issue. Then the attacks on Brady's personal life. Finally,I threw up my hands and said"F" it!!! It is time to just buckle up and fight the enemy. I am sure , in his own way, Belichick told his team "They hate you because you are on top." Embrace the hate. Channel it. Focus. The Colts turned up the crowd noise in the RCA Dome? Good ...we love it. Pump up the volume! Cause we will still beat you! Focus and go out there and get the job done. If the PAts were 3-13, none of this would be an issue. But as we all know, when you are on top, people are jealous and hate the fact that you are as good as you are.

In some ways I miss the "old" NFL. No domes. No artificial turf. Mud, blood, a few body slams here and there. Conrad Dobler, LAmbert, Greene, Butkus. I wonder what Lombardi would have said if one of his PAckers had come up to him after a loss and said "Coach, they probably won cause of that SPygate."
Lombardi would have stuck his head in the toilet and said, "No Son. We lost cause we went up against a BETTER team."

About Belichick. Light years ahead of other coaches in the league. And for all the analysts saying that the PAts..."need to establish the run," Belichick is smiling. They just don't get it. Only Esiason said it. The PAtriots have changed the way the game is played. This is something never seen before. A totally new way to play the game. Similar to when offenses first went to a shotgun formation with the QB. Look at the Pittsburgh game. Ball on the NE 1 yard line. Many coaches would say, "We need to be conservative here. Need to run the ball. Get some breathing room. Don't want to turn it over." Belichick says 'F' that! PAss to Welker. Another pass to Welker. Pass. Pass. Pass. Boom. boom. Boom. Confidence. PAtriot message to Pitt.: 5 wideouts. Empty backfield. We are passing. We know it. You know it. And you can't stop it. That's not bravado or arrogance. Pure confidence that you can get the job done. Win the battle. Overwhelm the enemy Just the facts. Plain and simple. Black and white.

One thing about the Colts and then I'm done. I don't hate the Colts. I am just totally opposite from the way they think. The Colts say 'We are a class team. We don't run up the score. We don't cheat. We have a class coach." I say 'F that!' Keep your class. Shove it up your ass. I don't want a "classy" team. I want winners. A killer attitude. An attitude that says "We will try to destroy and humiliate you on the field because that is our job." Diasgree? Think football players should be role models? No. PArents, teachers are role models. Not football players. Brady got a woman pregnant? Good for him! Who cares.?MAnning is a commercial whore? Good for him. MAke a million commercials. Just win on the football field. If a player truly screws up off the field, the law will deal with it ..ala Michael Vick and that is good enough for me. And those PAts fan that do not want to face the Colts in the AFc Champ. game? I want them. And I want them healthy. I want their best. Because I won't be satisfied unless we can beat their best. I will tell you this. Any Colts fan, and many do, that wants the JAgs to beat NE so the Colts don't have to face NE is already a loser in my book. I say.... Give me your best cause I am confident that we can beat your best. And if NE loses to the Colts or anyone else, I will be the first to say they failed. Screw "effort" and a "great season" and all that crap. You win the SuperBowl you succeeded. You lose the SB you failed. It's that simple. Black and white.

I'm done now.

Welcome, from another vet! Good points!

Great perspective...and agree with most of your points. I like the killer attitude this team is showing myself.

Exactly right! Lost the AFCC by a hair; didn't make excuses; fixed the problem by acquired amazing receiver talent in the off-season; now on a 13-0 roll; take no prisoners; everything else is BS;

Welcome aboard bro...

Great post. Agree with many of your thoughts and quoted those portions that really nailed the reality of the whole thing. Welcome aboard!

Awesome post! You've got my vote for the Pats Fan Post of the Week.

First, thanks for your service. Second, that post has me ready to run through a brick wall...a little fired up right now. Good deal.

Welcome aboard. Great post. Agree with concept.

This is pure "Old School" football we're being presented with by the Pats.
True Lombardi style.
"This is what we're going to do, we know it and you know it . . . so stop us if you can!" And if you can't . . . STFU and move on to your next game, don't stand there whining because you got beat by a better executing team.

excellent post.

just one thing....about wanting to beat the colts best. whoever plays and we win...i dont care. as long as we win.

There's a school of thought that feels that way, and I suppose there's nothing wrong with it, but I'm with our "old Vet" on this one. When you play the game, you not only want your best out there on the field, but their best, too.

Nothing's better than winning coming through the front door.

No taints.

No excuses.

Just the front door.

Excellent post. Absolutely correct. You always want to face their best, regardless of the situation. No excuses, no shame. Play hard and play to win.

You notice that when the Patriots have lost a game, they never come up with excuses about the other team? The Pats are always up front in giving props to the team that beat them, then setting about trying to correct what went wrong so it doesn't happen again. One thing about this team is that they might make mistakes, but they rarely make the same ones twice.

As a former Navy man, I'd like to also give props to an old Leatherneck. We ever meet up, the beer's on me. :rocker:

Holy Moly,
What the hell am I going to do till Sunday??

Bring em on,
Rat Bowl 2007!
