Pre-Free Agency 2023

It is probablly outrageous in general with one caveat. He might be looking for good, but not top of the market #1 WR money. For a team like Cincy, that would be outrageous because he is their #2 WR. For a team like the Patriots who do not have a #1 WR, it may be more reasonable of expectations.
Pick 14 + wr 1 contract seems too dicey . Pick 29 or 30 + Wr1 contract is ideal
.

That may depend on how much control Kraft has taken away from Belichick and whether Belichick thinks he is on the hotseat or not. The Pats could go against the grain this off-season.
Your right, I do believe RK has taken some control, that started with the collaborative effort on the draft in 2021 with groh taking the Scott pioli position!

As you know of course, owners don't empower GMs with so much power such as BB has had. The A.j brown debacle got the titans gm fired! I'd love to have Higgins or a clear cut bona-fide WR that puts everyone else in thier respective positions so Bill o'Brien can play chess with. Would be nice if they make a aggressive move!

They can afford anyone’s salary, they have more cap space than God
Higgins and the ability of fields to get outside the pocket! He'd look like he did against us every game next season!

There will be starting-caliber FSs on the market soon who will sign for less than what McCourty made this past season.

Safeties & RBs are the most plentiful fish in the ocean.

If the Flapper had any Real decency, he like Bergeron & Krejci did would sign some type of Super team-friendly deal to alleviate that ****ing INSANE $9.7M dead cap charge for next season.

THIRTY-****ING-TWO MILLION DOLLARS over the last 3 years...

Whine about what we paid McCourty received last year if you must.

My post was about the need at safety with McCourty and Peppers at the end of their contracts. Re-signing Peppers and signing a sarting safety at McCourty money is fine with me. Others consider us fine with us counting on Bledsoe.

We may already have the solution on the roster. Mills was signed to play at safety, he was very solid at safety when he played at Philadelphia.. this goes back to the CB depth, if we can obtain a game changer at CB then mills could slide into the McCourty role.. he's a solid corner but he's better suited at safety..
Sure, move one starting CB to safety. The other is at the end of his contract.

A GREAT CHANGE
BEFORE: the greatest need was on the Offense, and we had a fine Defense.
AFTER: our great need and issue is at CB.

NOT!

If we just Would of drafted Higgins like I was hoping for.

Another exercise you can do is see where Welker and Edelman's salaries ranked at the time they signed.

If Bill wouldn't sign Welker who was an All Pro/Pro Bowl player to $6M per year and signed Edelman to as high as $7M per year, why the fuk would Bill sign Meyers to double that in FA?

Oh yeah...he signed Agholor to $11M per year. Don't make the same mistake Bill.
Because salaries have more than doubled in the last 15 years?

This is what I've been saying, ain't happening.

Outrageous money or outrageous to the Bengals who are notoriously cheap? Either way, Higgins is going to want #1 money and it is doubtful the Bengals will pay him that as their #2 WR.
It’s doubtful the patriots will use drafts pick capital to get him and pay him #1 money

I’d prefer Godwin over Higgins, IF Tampa is open to trading him for the right price. If the trade is finalized after June first it saves the Bucs $20m in cap space with only $3-4m in dead money.

I am always prepared for the "best player available" pick.. I feel like we are ripe for a DT/DE type pick.
I would love to see them pick up a monster NT in the first few rounds.

queue the annual board meltdown where we don’t take WR at #14

I’d be happy with OT, S, CB, DL, Punter, Matthew Slater replacement, RB

Really would like to see WR addressed in FA (sorry Bill, no faith)

Why does everyone think Jeudy will be available ? I thought he was still on rookie contract ?

Don't get the dislike? How wouldn't a guy like Higgins help fields tremendously?

My concern with Meyers is he seems to struggle running rub routes which is the bread and butter of a slot receiver (or even the Z receiver) in O'Brien's offense. Even when McDaniels was here, it was the worst part of Meyers' game and he could too easily end up picking himself or another receiver rather than the defender because he was too easily rerouted by defenders.

Meyers definitely has value, but it depends on how O'Brien needs a receiver like him on whether it is worth bringing him back. He definitely lacks what Edelman, Welker, and Amedola had in the rub route category.
I think Meyers is a bit overrated. He’s worked hard to become a capable possession receiver, but he’s not as good as Edelman or Welker were and I think Bourne could fill his role well enough. They need a top guy defenses have to worry about.

If Bill trades #14 for a later first-rounder & a third-rounder, then the dude on whom I'll be keeping an eye is Michigan's Mazi Smith... But if he impresses at the combine then he might be taken much earlier on day 2 where we might still be in need of either an OT, CB or WR...

Agree mostly about Bourne; but he's had a lot more drops/fumbles than Meyers has.

I think Bourne has had 4 drops in two years; Meyers 7 in the last two years, but many more targets so . . . Each had two fumbles last year, which shocked me until I remembered Meyers played a lot more.

It was 10 years ago, not 15.
I think my boy @TheRainMaker hasn't had a COLA increase in 15 years and he's rightfully pissed off.
The both of you missed my first sentence from my post saying where the salaries ranked at the time of signing. Or what percentage of the players salary are you willing to be tied to the cap.

Welker's cap number ranked #28 in 2013. 10th in 2014. Bill didn't even want to pay him that. Edelman and Amendola weren't in the top 20.

If Bill paid Meyers in the top 20, which he refused to pay Welker, he'd have to pay Meyers over $17M per year. Paying him around $12-14M would put him around top 25.

So I'll ask it again, why would Bill pay Meyers top 20 money for a slot WR who can't shed man coverage?
