Semi-OT/Humor: Mac Jones then and now

He's Bradying that ****. I still laugh looking at Brady's combine pic.

Mac has made a commitment to transforming his body and embracing good nutritional habits at a much earlier stage of his career than Brady.

So Mac is not really Bradying this offseason, he is actually out-Bradying Brady at this same stage of their respective careers. While he will never have the same on field success as the GOAT, outworking a (hard-working) young TB12 is a damn good sign. I can’t wait to see the fruits of his labor come September.

I'd give good odds that 25 years from now Brady will no longer be widely regarded as the GOAT. Don't know who *will* be the most likely GOAT, and some will still maintain that is Brady, but most folks will have moved on to a shinier candidate.

Noone will have 7 (or 8!) rings

I think Brandon there is right, that ring-count is just insane. People will make dumbass arguments, but there won't be a body of work like Brady's within 25 years unless a guy started within 5 years from the present and ruled the league for an additional couple of decades.

Of course, I could eat my words, which would be fine, because it would mean I'm alive to do so at 84, which really doesn't seem like a good bet. (It's also the "longevity risk" that keeps me from pondering retirement.)

Not a single player will win 7 Superbowls ever again too much parity.

If Belichick is successful with Mac (e.g, 3 super bowls) it will be a big knock on Brady's legacy...

No it won’t. They both have the success they achieved. They did their job and won. What happens after does not change that in any fashion.

Agree, the ring count is almost certainly forever unbeatable. Brady has more rings (7) than any individual franchise for heavens sake (most 6 = pats/steelers). Only one person has more, of course Bill with 8.

Then we think about how much of an outlier Brady is longetivity wise. To win a superbowl in his sophomore season and now be the oldest active player in the nfl and a threat to win it all every single season he plays. Staggering! If someone ever comes close it is because Brady has moved the goal posts of what can be physically acheived and how.

Then to get Bill and Brady both together right from the start of Brady's career through the peak of both their powers. Having Bill was vital for Brady to be that threat every single season (as we see from other great QBs who weren't). Especially in Brady's earlier part of his career, but we also see this with some monster defensive complementary ball in the later superbowls (and what happened when it wasn't there in the Eagles SB). I doubt there is ever a combination again quite like Bill/Brady, and am pretty sure neither would be the GOAT without the other.

As for Mac. I suspect the Pats have stuck gold again with a competitive monster. He needed the body transformation so like to see it happen early in his career.
I suspect this will not be the season, but would like to think Pats have a grand plan with all that cap space to build an absolute wagon for Bill's swansong in Mac's years 4/5.

He's not Brady, noone ever will come close, but loving what I see so far from Mac.

Interesting idea but what does this (and the proceeding discussion afterwards) have to do with this thread about Mac's shredded body? Let's get back to discussing the Mac 6 Pack please.

Remains to be seen how he looks in camp - sometimes the social media pics can be a little misleading, but still, things certainly are looking up... I hoped he would commit to losing a little weight and getting in good shape this offseason but this is really crazy. Tbh I don't think he was even in as bad of shape as most of us assumed last year, considering he took the punishment he did all year and kept it going. I didn't really care much if he stayed slightly chubby as long as he worked on the arm a little, which we know he also did with the revered Tom House. Achieving both in one offseason would speak to a really high work ethic. Let's see what happens.

With his new body makeover Mac's next logical move is to dump his current gf and start dating Bella Hadid. That should boost him into stardom.

No it won‘t. Brady has won a ring without Bill. But I don’t think that is a knock on Bill’s legacy. Brady may never win another ring, but that may more have to do with his age and the team and coaching around him.

But if Bill wins three Super Bowls with Mac, that will be in part that he caught lightning in a bottle twice by getting two HOF QBs.

But let’s win one with Mac before we start talking three.

I think Mac may make all those people who claimed he had a low ceiling eat their words.

I still never got how people could believe that Jones could never improve his physical skills all that much but believe guys like Zach Wilson and Trey Lance, who have incredible physical abilities but haven’t shown the football intelligence, could make massive jumps in the latter. There a lot more players who fit that bill that follow Jeff George’s career path than the path Josh Allen is currently on.

I don’t think so. Besides the rings, Brady also has all the records (yards, TD passes, etc) as well. It would take someone that lasts 20+ years and doesn’t deteriorate in skills. Brady is the rarest of the rare specimens. He will forever be the GOAT.

His current GF is prettier, but I understand the correlation to Brady’s dating situation.

Just one ring though...on a talented team to boot.

And if Bill wins 3 super bowls with Mac, it's more evidence that Belichick made this team what it was. Brady and Mac with multiple super bowls - the common denominator is Bill.

But I agree Mac won't win 6 super bowls since Bill won't be around for the next 20 years and our next HC will likely be Patricia/Judge/Belichick kid...

The QB weight lifter is not always a good way to go. Occasionally what they gain in strength they will lose in touch and accuracy.

I truly cannot recall a good NFL QB who was devoted to pumping iron.

We will see. Put your boots on because the BS is getting deep out here. Justin Fields is recieving all kinds of accolades. McDaniels is the Einstein of NFL offenses. Tua throws a better ball than Mahomes. Everybody is talking a big game.

Mac has a “normal” NFL body for a QB now. Before he more resembled the Pillsbury dough boy.
