Good article on Cole Strange

Onwenu struggled when they put him on the left side, he played on the right side well and played there in college. Beyond being big there’s not a lot similar about the two, Onwenu was strong exiting college. Again, I could be wrong. I think they have better more athletic options on the interior and there’s only so many roster spots available.

Most 6th rounders are practice squad guys. "Explosive" numbers indicate lower body strength, broad and high jump at 330 lbs., so Hines has stronger lower but weaker upper body strength than other prospects (hence the relatively high RAS score) - not sure how that translates to run and pass blocking. I think he is a good prospect, but I really do not know, I am not a evaluator like BCG.

I’ll just add that I think they got a better more athletic guy in Kody Russey in the undrafted ranks who can also play Center, I won’t be surprised if he makes the team.

Good comparison. Hines 10 yard split is faster than Russey, and Hines is 40 lbs. heavier. Russey benched a lot more. I like them both. We will see.

With center in particular, it's not merely a question of strength.

As a case in point, in 2016, when given the choice, Brady chose to work with Andrews in TC, leaving Garoppolo to work with Bryan Stork.

Stork was a little "sloppy"

Don't be so defensive. As a HC Bill is one of the best but he deserves criticism for some of his draft picks as the GM. Even Kraft mentioned that the drafting needed to improve.

ROFLMAO. I wasn't being defensive. I was being sarcastic. It's ridiculous for people like yourself to make the claims when he's been amongst the best during that 22 year run. Try looking at the ACTUAL NUMBERS instead of listening to the Negative Nancy Brigade.

Oh. And you should probably go back and listen to what Kraft ACTUALLY said. It's not what you think he said.

I think Stork was a prodigious sweater that turned Brady off. I thought that guy was a keeper, too. Personally vetted by Dante.

The draft truly is a crap shoot. That’s why trading down as a general rule makes sense.

There is a big difference between being strong and being explosive. I am 6'4 320 lbs and can lift a small car by myself. I still played 3rd string OT on my HS football team because I have about a 6 inch Vertical and run the 40 with a sundial. Yeah if I got my hands on people it was all over but why would they get near me when they can just run right around me? Getting where you need to be, faster then the other guy, is more important then who can do more reps on the bench. Ideally you want both but in the 6th round you have to choose and IMO give me the explosive guy over the strong guy everytime.

Stork's issues were his concussions. I think he had numerous in college and had 2 or 3 in his short stint with the Patriots.

I agree, there is a big difference between explosion and strength. Explosion is hard to improve after puberty ends, strength isn't. But the Pats have a lot of really good athletes ahead of the back end of the roster guys like the ones taken in the last two rounds... guys who have it all. Speed, Strength, Explosion, Agility... all of it. The guy we're talking about, has size and explosion... and that's it.

The NFL is hard. It's not easy to win one of those singing contests on TV either... or so I hear.
