Celtics playoff run: drive for #18

The defensive rebounding last night was spectacular.

No White tonight.....paternity leave

The Ghost of Red Auerbach shakes his head in dismay

I agree with Red. Why can't pro athletes time their baby deliveries to the off-season?

Fertility is down by about 30% since Red roamed the sidelines, and 50% since he was born, so it isn't so easy anymore.

Wow, just wow. This team is so good in so many ways. Smart with a player of the game performance while nursing back from an injury. And missing their sixth man.

They were a little undisciplined on offense at times, passing up wide open guys under the basket to take another 3. Need to clean that up in anticipation of a cooler shooting night. But that's all I got.

And they get the full squad back for the next two at home. Its all mental now - if they stay focused and disciplined, Miami can't keep up.

For schitts and giggles.....

NBA
Calvin Murphy....14 kids....9 baby mommas
Jason Caffey ....10 kids
Willie Anderson....9 kids with 7 baby mommas
Pippen/Kemp/Kenny Anderson........7 each
etc
etc
etc

NFL
Antonio Cromartie......12 kids....8 baby mommas

Surprise stat of 20th century
Wilt Chamberlain....man with 20,000 bed post notches.....0 kids

And THAT'S how you respond to a bad loss in a must-win game.
When healthy, C's are the best team in the league.
Timelord was the X Factor last night
His presence inside was immense, completely disrupting Miami's inside game in the 1st half.
Then you look at Timelord's stats compared to Bam.....TKO
-----------
Tip of the hat to Ainge.
These are his draft picks carrying this team.
Smart, Tatum, Brown, Wiliams & Williams, Pritchard, Theis

And tip of the hat to Opie Stevens for quitting coaching, hiring a more relatable coach, and getting Horford back in the fold.

could only watch the 1st Qtr. because tip off was actually at 8:40...am I the only one who thinks this is crazy? I'm old (ish) and have to work in the morning. I get it that you have to play to the whole country, but sheesh.

key win and now the series starts.

Everyone knows the Celts will win the series if they do not come unglued. The Celts are bigger and more athletic. It is the mental aspect at this time. Smart's bravado is a bit concerning, but the guys can probably work around that? As bad as Smart's 3 point shooting is, I think D White's is worse. Smart on Butler takes a lot of wind out of the Heat's sails.

Marcus is shooting 37% for threes in the postseason which, as we've covered, is fine..

Are you referring to something specific?

His post game interview. starts at about 5:45 - very self centered "my guys" like he is in charge and the leader on the team. Not too bad but still a bit over the top

Interesting. I do take your point, but I have to say I’m undecided on it, I think it actually might be a good thing? I guess it depends on how the team sees him

The NBA schedules these games so strangely

First round they get 3-4 days off at a time, now they don’t even have a separate rest day apart from travel, at a time when the players need more rest

I get it’s for tv reasons but probably be a better product if they spaced it out more consistently

I heard F&M talk about this. *gasp* I know it’s sacrilege to hear anything critical. They are right that Marcus clearly has some insecurity about being the third wheel/less than a star status.

At the end of the day I am a die hard fan and love everything Marcus brings, regardless of his ego. If he helps us win a title it really doesn’t matter. He is indeed the third best player on our team and a key piece.

I’ve always thought more highly about Smart than some others do. Awesome defender who can hit clutch shots when called upon. He played a role in us losing to the Bucks, sure but when positives definitely outweighs the negatives.

Looks like Williams is out. A little frustrating, he can’t seem to stay on the floor lately

Celts forgot to show up for start of the game. Despite the late heroics a very disappointing showing overall, too many damn turnovers.

Immaturity forcing situations. Oh well, maybe they will wake up.

More on the immaturity factor: Tatum and Smart rolling around on the floor in agony like they had season-ending injuries then coming back to play like nothing happened was a bit much. Especially in Tatum's case. OK, so maybe his shoulder was hurting and that somewhat explains having a bad game, but playing dead while nine other guys are running around was histrionic. For that matter the way Smart carried on people thought his ankle was broken.
